Thing is, my tower placements work for basically 800 range towers too as long as you have the lumber. That's why it's important to rush merchant, you can near-instantly get full 40+++ supers before GP.

Like lordmillt said, over-towering is good even with 800 range towers due to titan attacking back wall. Of course you should over-tower if you are not worried about lumber income. After double basing and having a lumber pooler, or are double basing with another tower builder who has seeds.
