Playing to Win.

I think that if everyone in the Dota community would read this article we would end up having much better games overall. This book definitively changed the way I play in any games involving player vs player interaction.

(Only reading the beginner and intermediate guide is necessary)

Thoughts?

Imho one of the most stupid articles about video games i ever read.
To me such thoughts sound kinda noobish. I remember back in the days of DAoC RvR someone saying "you dont want to fight, you want to win". This has become the essence of my gameplay. The nr 1 rule to wining is to avoid ppl who might beat you or situations where you might lose, like attacking foes who are in better position or have larger numbers. I still prefer a tough enemy who might beat me over just bashing noobs to ensure that i always win. I still prefer fighting over wining.
Beside that a lot of other stuff in this article is just bs. The author suggests to use bugs or whatever helps to win, he thinks that one would learn from that. I dont think so, learn the game, know the bugs and lame tactics, know how to counter them, but when you do know that not using them will make the fight harder for you and you have to find a way to win without em what usually is harder, requires more tactics, more skill and you will learn way more that way. And if you master it, aint it more fun to win in an "honorable" way than to just win? Maybe it doesnt make a difference for some, maybe for some its really just win > all. I cant really understand that. And imho such people barely ever are good players, they try to find the most easy way to win and win a lot with that, but as soon as they cant use it, when they arent in the right position when their i-win ability isnt available, they dont know what to do and go down like the noobs they are.
A really good player will always try to find a challenge, even if that means he might lose. But i always respected ppl more who charged the enemy when they were outnumbered 20:1 than those who spawn camp, even when those who charged ended up with 20 kill while the camper had 100.
This still is a game. If i would have to fight for my life, yes i would use any lame tactic i know. But its only a game and i prefer to attack 3 ppl solo than to kill a solo with 3 ppl. Even if that means i lose a lot, i learn and sorry but when you have mastered it and manage to win your 1 vs 3 fights, none can tell me that its less fun than bashing ppl who dont have a chance, just to win.
