definition of smurfing and trolling

Ok, I have seen some people create new account and have low stats then say they are trolling because of it. However, these people are subsequently wrong. High skill players who create new accounts to either help friends or to stomp pubs is called smurfing. see pasted definition:

This definition of smurfing comes from 1996 and the game Warcraft II when certain well-known players made up new names, pretend to play badly, then beat the other players. They picked the names PapaSmurf and Smurfette.

It was used in alt.games.starcraft, and defined in April 1999 as:

someone who makes a new account then pretends they are a newbie.

Now trolling on the other hand is purposely saying things to incite other players or people on forums to react in a generally upset or aggressive attitude. see pasted definition:

In Internet slang, a troll (pron.: /ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is someone who posts inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3] The noun troll may also refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted."

While the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels subjective, with trolling describing intentionally provocative actions and harassment outside of an online context

now this is not to be misconstrued as flamming which is usually a derogatory statement or insult said to someone, usually attacking their intelligence or family members in some immature obscene way.

Hope this helps sort out the ones who are errantly saying they are trolling when they are in fact smurfing.
Thank you and have a good day.

yes smurfs often troll, however the act of smurfing is not trolling, unless they actually troll.

Statements aren't usually a good instigator of discussion

yes, its posted in general discussion, but it was meant as more educational. and I didn't see a specific part of this forum where I could have posted this where it would have been most relevant.

For my personal view of everything. I'am not a dictionnary.

These mean :

Troll : Someone that is there to take you in his game (talking bullshit and you get mad of it or just correcting everything you type that has an error etc.).

Smurf : A second account that user most of the time doesn't care.

Elo Snipe : Account on wich the user will do everything to 'rape/kill' the higher stacked elo team and get the gain of 25-30 elo. Getting them mad in the same time.

Flamming : Is just someone that doesn't care and go on a rampage of flame / Insult / Racist etc. The difference between this and a troller is small. Troller doesn't want most of the time hurt you, flammer - Want it.

Is this enough explanation. No need big text. Put in big what it means.

just note that even tho smurfing is not bannable. playing like a noob could get you banned. aka feeding or game ruining. if you are accused of game ruining on a smurf account and we see that your other accounts are really good. i will hold that against you.
