Recently,
It's come to my attention that DotA has a version of the 6.85 series with -apem on it.
How would the community feel about a map change to such?
I'm posting this in the DotA subforum just to grab a feel from you guys. Should the feedback be well, it will be moved to suggestions.

Re: DotA 6.85ne
I've seen that before on other bots, like Dota Void or something. But it was awhile ago, before some of the patch. I didn't quite like it, too many things changed.

Re: DotA 6.85ne
ignore Krome, as it's probably king.kar again. 6.85ne/k is more balanced then the map we currently play on, and oracle, legion, slark, etc are not nearly as strong as the former. I say give it a shot if others are willing to play with some new items, and different hero balances.

Re: DotA 6.85ne
Oh please no...
Like I've said every other time this topic has come up. I'll retire from dota if the switch happens. The whole reason I stuck around with dota over dota2 is the absence of updates. I genuinely appreciate being able to leave dota for weeks and be able to come back and not have to read pages of changelogs and deal with new bugs. If the community wants this, then so be it but I'll be out.

Re: DotA 6.85ne
6.85 is trash. 6.83 is latest real map close to original.
If you want to play 6.85 you guys can go on steam and play Dota2 instead.
Here we play dota. Do not update.
Who is this Dracolish and how he ended up updating IceFrog's legendary map ? Nope.

"latest real map close to the original"? How does that even work? Who chooses the right combination of latest, original and real? Do you realize 6.83 came to dota 2 first, presumably making it haram for your type of crazy?

Re: DotA 6.85ne
Blizzard made a misstep not hiring Icefrog and trademarking DotA. Kind of Ironic b/c they took Westwood's Dune 2 RTS and build a franchise around it but failed to see the rise of the MOBA genre. Big market and they missed it. Heroes of the Storm ... ahh.. just bad.

This guy been around for decades and doesnt know whos icefrog?
either your the dumbest guy around or your just another troll.
Everyone knows Icefrogs version of Dota is the original, and yes 6.83 came from dota 2 and there was a big
change from 6.81 to 6.83, it was hard for the community to adapt, but it was Icefrog That chose to update it to 6.83.
and thats probably the biggest reason why the community moved to 6.83. Ice frog will always be the greatest dota map editor,
and dracolitch could never replace him.
icefrog is still involved with the current development of dota 2, so there still isn't a clear cut "REAL OG OLD SCHOOL DOTA THAT'S ALSO THE LATEST BUT NOT TOO MUCH THE LATEST BECAUSE WOAH SCARY" version. I'm sorry that adapting to 6.83 turned you into a foaming at the mouth wreck with Tourette syndrome but no, there isn't a specific point in time when versions stopped being approved by icefrog, he just stopped caring about wc3. dracolich basically just ported 6.85, the updates themselves aren't his.
Re: DotA 6.85ne

Re: DotA 6.85ne
I heard 6.85ne is more balanced, I personally wouldn't mind trying it out. Also @merex could you take a look at my dota matching system suggestion, see if its possible to implement a system like that.

+1 support - No change to patch 6.85ne.
The only reason I stick with this patch because of courier abuse and iO's healing threshold.
Re: DotA 6.85ne
Hi,
I'm the modder of this map who implemented -em mode, fixed around 20 bugs and who put in a few balance changes in accordance with my old community Ghostplay. (Alchi, Bristle and Invoker got slightly nerfed. For more info: there is a another thread about this topic or just ask me) Thousands of people played this map on our bots and nowadays in Bnet you see that in 90% of the games 6.85ne is being hosted.
In Battle.net however some guys took this map and put in some cheats for themselves and published it as ne9, ne Ulitmate or ne Final. If you ever plan to test 6.85ne on your bots make sure that you take an uncheated map. You can check that by opening the script file with Notepad and search for (Ctrl + F) following names (the cheats only work with these account names): F-Train, ... I am sure these filthy guys will release more cheatmaps in the future and the names might change.
You can also write me a message and I send you an uncheated map.
Cheers
