Hardest carry to play in general?

Postby SLAYAX » Sun Jul 22, 2012 4:10 am

Hey guys just another post, may be I am just bored but i'm wondering what you guys think the hardest carry to play in general is? By this I mean who is the hardest carry to play effectively and pretty much getting kills and winning games. In my opinion the hardest carry to play in general is either tinker or silencer, and yes these two are actually carries. So please give me your opinions, thank you.

i guess it depends on the mode and what heroes the other team has.

Good question, like adventure club says the other team heroes needs to be taken into account. With that said if you are playing a 4/1 strat like 2010 chinese "play" which was pretty much the 4 other players keeps that 1 carry safe from ganks while the carry farms its items, I think drow/medusa takes that "hardest carry" title imo. But im looking at this on a high competitive level situation, im saying that drow/medusa are those hard to play carries because if the other team is smart, you gank drow/medusa 24/7. Like trying to concentrate on your last hits while looking at the mini map being aware of ganks, and you also need to keep the creep equilibrium to your advantage on all 3 lanes, meaning the rest of your team cant farm to push the lanes to enemy towers. While medusa has a flash farming skill, drow doesnt have that luxury, thats why i think she is hard to play, but thats just me. You can put sf up there too, but then again i'm really bad with drow/medusa/sf.

Interesting that you point out tinker being a carry, ive always thought of that hero as a support-hard-pusher, but now that i think about it he really can carry in the late game. I also think Furion can scale up to be a really hard carry late game :D

I really don't think that there is such a thing as "hardest carry to play". First of all there is a very loose definition of "carry" so I don't really know if there is an answer to this, or if there even should be. Its much more of an individually based question, but also a question that, as stated above, really depends on whatever game you are playing. Who's on your team, who's on the other team, what items you have, what items the other team has etc. I don't really think that game "mode" matters, since the mode doesn't change what heroes are in the game... I mean you can go into -wtf mode or whatever, but at that point I'd just afk and call you irrelevant.

I have to agree with everyone in this thread with the exception of the original poster. There are many variables that come into play when you take into consideration what the "hardest carry" is--like the aforementioned--individual players on each team, what the hero lineups are, and etcetera. I like that Panda mentioned maintaining the creep equilibrium in all of the lanes. I'm willing to bet that a very small percentage of the DotA community (as a whole) is familiar with this. Just the other day, some guy that laned against me at mid laughed in All Chat at how I was denying creeps even though no one was there. Not surprisingly, his ego completely ignored my explanation of pushing the wave back my way so I can farm more.

And for the record, Furion definitely can be a hardcore carry hero late game. It's really difficult to stop his farming when he has a 20-second global teleport.

It's also worth mentioning that the degree of difficulty someone may have with a particular hero is completely relative -- in other words, just because I think Tinker or Void or whoever is an easy hero doesn't mean he is easy for someone else. Hard for me isn't hard for you.

Tinker is one of the best carries out there. He has a strong early game with heavy nukes and can be fairly tough to handle in the solo middle lane. I've been playing Tinker a lot recently (that's the only I have actually been playing) but i think what makes Tinker a difficult carry

Map Awareness
While playing Tinker you have to have complete map awareness,Tinker with rearm and BOT has the ability to be everywhere on the map. Should I help this gank first or should I push top lane, should I help my ally who is getting ganked or should I push?

Mana Conservation/ Hp Conservation
You must pay attention to your mana/hp. It is can very difficult to keep track of your mana/hp. Tp-Laser-missle-rearm-repeat before your know it you have zero 0 mana to tp.

Item Use/Micro
Tinker is one of the heroes that requires you to actually click your item or items. This can be a pain in the ass without tools like inventory mappers, (travels/soul ring/guissino/bottle/manta/dagon/blink )not mention you still have to use your spells and rearm them all the items and spells.
A good tinker is never standing still.

Yeah he is, 32% damage amplification? How is that not carry? Just go dps items instead of support, gg.
