It's been tried several times in the past, hosting 1200+ Games, and the lobbies very rarely/ never filled. Don't see that changing at all. People either: 1. don't care about elo at all and will play with or against anyone 2. Smurf on new accounts constantly 3. Like to stack against low elo players 4. Want to play with friends on smurf accounts 5. Don't want a game where everyone knows what they are doing
It just doesn't work

I think it would be better to create a lower limit (eg. no one below, say, 850-900 elo can join) versus creating an upper limit. I see constantly more and more players now with 700 or less that completely skew games. I'm not worried about people with 1800+ skewing games because they work for it. Its players like, for example, mexican_wisp, who has been hovering at 400-500 elo for months and has 1500 games played. He is used seemingly exclusively by high elo players that add him to friends list so he can boost their elo. He is obviously a player that does not care for elo or stats, so what is wrong in asking players of that calibre to a) reset their stats or b) make a new account? The same thing happened when u_lose_i_win account changed owners. Now perhaps implementing a system like that "hides" bad players, but wouldn't it also create an environment where you are forced to play better to be allowed to play, rather than creating two very seperate tiers of players? At this point dota is so old that player levels are already stratified, but I think doing this would help to even the playing field or at least make it better then it currently is. As far as I know this has never been attempted, but
the list goes on forever of players that truly just dont give a rats ass about stats or elo (as a caveat this is not a debate as to the merit of these numbers as a qualification of skill). Does it not make more sense to impliment a low limit versus a high limit?

Funny that you mention this... I tried it with a different low elo player (won't mention who)... it took about 5 minutes for this guy to proceed to straight out start to spam in teamchat how other players should play their heroes etc.... and it took me about 2 more minutes after that to /f r because I instantly realized that this kid is a complete dick on top of being superbad and that he deserves his low elo very much. In my defense, I had a mutually beneficial plan where in turn for getting the extra elo boost, I would help him recover his account and raise his elo significantly... but alas
As for the original topic, I truly agree but I feel like 1200 is way too low actually. I could take ANYONE and play 20-25 games with them and they would be 1200+ elo...
I feel that 1400+ is a much better number to try as a minimum limit

go get a million more players to ent and we can separate the player base to 600-, 700-, 800-, 900-, 1000+, 1100+, 1200+, 1300+, 1400+, 1500+, 1600+, 2k+, or watever you want lol

1200 lobbies don't fill.
It's not hard to get a higher ELO; just learn to play

Even if you get the admins to host a 1200+ bot .... again........... the same thing will happen.... again.... no one will join and it will be taken off. Player base too low, nuff said.
If you want to play with higher skilled players, do what they did, dota2

this is probably the reason why we don't have enough player because ent is failing at addressing dota community issues. i had three friends of my quit because its just god awful. and i am dam near at the verge of doing the same. this is my last stand to try improve it before i actually quit to. there's a lot of issues in the dota games. a lot of very low elo player i don't care what anyone says.there are player with like 2k games with 500-800 elo and you mean to tell me they not throwing or learning? no they choosing to not to try or what ever. i can stack but other team will suck and game will be the same or i can go against stack and still not have a chance in hell to win a game because of the skill lvl. people are complaining about meepo and stackers, and requesting auto balance which i'm against because i play with some friends sometimes. and i think higher elo bot will solve all of it just by having it. it will gain popularity over time. i remember when i was playing LTD games their 1200+ bot barely filled and it started gaining overtime. so give it a chance. not to mention all of this issues on top of the daily hackers is like really?

And were back to the simply solution of having auto balanced games as standard instead of being voted for.

Well that's what Dotareborn was for; it worked for a while then the server shut down. The site hasn't been active for months.
Autobalance games were more challenging and players typically were playing the standard 1-5 roles with the occasional troll.
I find the pubs I join have maybe 1-2 good players per each team unless they're are people smurfing; happens frequently. ENT just has a large player base of sub 1000 ELO players.
