Cool, welcome back Hatelose
Yeah, I think a maphack detector is really necessary. I have paid extra attention to the mh possibility in games the last week and seen things that I cannot justify anymore rationally as a mod.
First example: I played a game in which me and my ally had doomsdays and hades at lvl 20. What is only logical level to send if you know this? Lvl 27 of course. The enemies also wanted to send 27 and were both very clear about it that they would, but suddenly at lvl 25 one of the players wanted to send 28. Seriously, if u have hades and doomies vs u go send 28??? Totally illogical move?
No, because after lvl 20 my partner and me both switched t6, he went to make wardens and I did some hydras and bigfoots (or bigfeet
). This was impossible to know because we didn't leak. The player who switched his opinion was a pretty high ELO, so it seems to me that if he makes such 'illogical' calls more often he would be a low ELO instead of a high ELO because that will often fail. Except of course if.... et cetera.
Second example: I played 4 games vs the same player in 2v2. In not 1 game did he send warriors, because we were strong vs it, but exactly on the one game we were weak vs 1 he sent warriors. Also, his ally just proposed to send lvl 3 because they both could send strong then, but still he wanted warriors.
Last example: I played a 2v2 and we leaked at lvl 3, showing a captain. The units that were invisible were mortars/heavy. Enemy saved until lvl 8. Totally illogical if you only saw captain, because an upped captain owns lvl 8, but totally logical if you saw the rest of the units.
I know those games are no proofs, and that is why I don't name the names belonging to those players, but for me it is impossible to say our league is fine without a maphack detector and be honest about it. It is for me hard to justify punishing innocent things such as a player afk'ing after signing, while I know it is very likely some players are cheating this game in a really unfair way and are not only not punished for it, but even rewarded because they have way higher ELO than they should have.
You don't stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing.
