Hi all, I'm sorry to say that I will be resigning from moderation in three days time. (staying long enough to help out with the vouch requests). I do intend to hang around as a regular player but I feel I am unable to take anywhere close to 50% of a leading role in the transition.
I imagine this looks a bit like a rat fleeing the sinking ship because, frankly, it is. Anda and I were informed about the shutdown 24 hours earlier than you lot so I had a think and decided that I simply do not have the time or motivation to put in the effort that will be needed into the transition period. However, I do think that lihl will survive because I trust you guys and especially anda to keep it that way. Keep in mind that at its most basic 'clan lihl' can be recreated on BNET and stats tracking can be externalised.
The reason I'm resigning now as opposed to when the full shutdown happens is because I believe that even though it isn't fair on anda to leave him as the sole active moderator, it would be even worse to selfishly keep the role of 'moderator' but not actually do anything meaningful. If this is difficult to understand keep in mind that after crey's retirement 6 months ago lihl has had 4-5 moderators throughout that period and we had 4 until today.
Penultimately, the other reason for my resigning early is to (hopefully) pressure some of you lot into applying, I don't think its necessary to be a moderator in order to help with the transition but it should make it easier.
1. Mudman
2. Ace (again)
3. yolostyle
4. bigM
5. legionaire
6. red.rum
7. 7yeahs
8. n1ll3 (again)
9. blackie
I think that all of you guys would make particularly good moderators. While I don't expect to see 9 new staff applications by tomorrow, I do hope that at least one person feels that they're in a position to help anda and the rest of the league through the transition. On that note anyone with experience/connections with discord bots (discord stats tracking in particular) please let anda know.
Lastly there are a few people who I owe thanks to.
1. Ace, you encouraged me and helped a lot when I first applied for moderator. I wasn't part of the league when you were moderating but after becoming a moderator I realised that you sacrificed your free time because it was needed, not because you wanted to. You've earned my respect for that.
2. Tom, you're definitely one of the calmest people I've met, I took lessons from your level headed judgement and your trust in all the individuals here.
3. Crey, you taught me how to play this game and helped me reach a lihl standard in the first place I don't think I would have ever joined the league without you
4. Anda, you and I definitely don't always agree when it comes to moderation but I felt we were still able to work well together and keep our disagreements separate from our friendship. While I regret leaving you in a difficult position I honestly think that you're the man for the job. You may not have all the knowledge that will be needed but you sure as hell have the determination. I wish you best of luck.
I ask everyone to remember that it is the players, not the moderator(s) that are the heart of the league. As long as you guys stick around and are willing to adjust to the changes that are sure to come there's no reason that lihl shouldn't continue. Even though some of you might like 1200+ a bit more god knows lihl is better than BNET pubs.
Cheers.
