Calling for the community's support!

Postby iightfyre » Fri Feb 14, 2014 6:44 am

Team -

1. I would really like to see this league flourish as it did in season 1. I am calling out to all of you to help promote this league and get more players involved. Please get out there in pubs and talk to good players and get them interested. We want this league to grow, not diminish!

2. When the No Cross bot opens up I hope that the LIHL community will play on that bot and search for potential LIHL members - this is a great new opportunity for us!

3. Let's all get committed to our community. I am quite frankly getting sick of the drama and hostility that I see in our forums and chat logs all the time. I can only assume that this feeling is shared by a lot of you. Get to know each other on a first name basis, get interested in playing pubs together when there is no LIHL game able to start!

4. Help us know how to help you! Please post more in our public forum. Let us know what changes you want to see and let us know how we can support you in making not only the best LTD gaming environment but also the most respected community in ENT!

I have such high hopes for this league and for everyone in it. I want to see positive changes and growth in our league. This is such a unique opportunity that we have here in ENT and in the LIHL - nobody else offers the LTD experience that we do!

GET EXCITED! GET PUMPED!! GET ACTIVE!

Let's make this league the best spot in the entire WC3 community! It's up to you guys and I have faith in you all :D :D

I've got a few ideas what could be changed and i'll bring them up later this day. I'm also gonna respond to your answer on my ban topic as soon as i feel awake enough btw, so don't think i've forgotton you. This whole just just happened to hit another dimension and getting deeper into this isn't that easy for me^^ I mean... i consider my english to be ok afterall, but not good enough to be able to express myself as i would like in german. So yeah, i'll take some time for this response & the ideas ;) Expect them within the next 12 hours or so, maybe earlier, depends on my mood. I wanna point out already tho that i'm happy with the you, iight, who obviously read our concerns and now tries to act on them.

My first suggestion:
Play more LIHL games and less pubs :D

@vicdcq

We do not allow crossing or double building in the LIHL.

@diablo_

Man, I'm trying to! The hours that I am on there are never enough LIHL members to start a game! So sad :*(

Well you ask for insults when you come with such retarded comments. Your a respectless idiot, insulting me in on a very weak argument, on one call in a game, and you actually think you can call me a cheater, I install wc3 to have some fun, it took you 4 games before you ruined that, Ive never seen a more retarded accuse, dont cry over people insulting you when you are the one that starts it, I mean you have no evidence whats so ever, on the other hand I have a ton of defence just in game chat, so lets see, you accusing me of cheat(for no reason whats so ever, discracefull behavior), vs me flaming you abit, since you started the insults on me, its quiet obviouse who is the bad guy here, so not only do you cry like a little baby when I get mad at you, you take it to the forum to get some sympathy for your bad behaviour, discusting, how can you look yourself in the mirror, you should be banned just for those actions

Well, good that i've had some ideas but forgot to write them down and now some time has passed and i don't exactly remember everything, but the one thing i do remember is something very important and it seems to be just what the current discussion is about.

It's about flaming!

We have so many rules for so many things, but we're not punishing flaming whats so ever, why? You ever played League of Legends? The Community there is a bucking piece of sh*it tbh... There is SOOOO much flame going on between the most players it's not even funny anymore, and sadly i see some of this here aswell. Some people simply will never understand that they're not making things better with flaming, and that the opposite is the case. If i ever happen to do something bad, i pretty much know that myself and i'm mad on myself already for this. So what happens if someone comes and flames me for it? Well, its quite obvious. It will upset me even more and therefore makes me perform even worse, which will lead to more flame which results in even worse performance, up to the point where the offended person just doesn't care about the game anymore. You're not gonna try as hard to win when there is someone on your team constantly commenting every mistake you may have made! I'm not saying mistakes shouldn't be mentioned, they should! Only that way we can improve. But there is a difference between mentioning something and being a dick about it! Also it should NEVER happen during the game! W/E happened has already happened! YOU'RE NOT GONNA CHANGE IT WITH FLAMING! YOU MAKE IT WORSE! Back 2 my point: Who do you think will get banned? The flamer or the flamed? I can tell you that in 100%, LITERALLY 100%, of all cases the flamer will get banned, NO MATTER WHAT THE FLAMED PERSON DID!!!! Even if the flamed person put up a behaviour that is against the rules (intentionally feeding for example) the flamer will get banned along with the feeder, and that's a very good thing if you ask me, since that's the only way some people will learn that flaming is not ok.

So what i'm basicly saying is: We should get rules against flaming aswell! People should be given a pause for repeated toxic behaviour. Everyone has bad days and is sometimes mad, but some people will always jump on someone who "makes a mistake" and those people should be shown they act wrong.

What hinders you from !ignoring the user?

!ignore really shouldn't be used in a competitive team-based league.
Other than that, am I the only one who thinks that there hardly is any flame in this league? :O
Sure, some people usually use harsher words than others (Ricky etc :D ), but I hardly ever see someone flaming or raging. Maybe like once in 20 games?!
Extreme flaming should be punished for sure. First time a warning, then starting with bans. But afaik people were already banned for flaming in the past, so it's not like it is being ignored. And single statements like "wow you suck" (ofc there's no reason to ever say so) shouldn't be punished imo.

Weak argument considering flaming shouldn't be in a competitive league either.

Perhaps -x elo would hurt the players more than a ban since it directly affects your position/rank and could at a certain point lead to your unvouch (which would be the indirect punishment for a bad behavior).

Edit: The major issue I see here is the 'amount' of tolerance a mod or player has. We react differently to certain words and perhaps feel more/less offended by them.

Two "wrongs" doesn't equal right.

ELO penalties disturb the ELO distribution as it would take away ELO from the overall amount. Personally, I don't think this would be a problem, but I remember our Mods stating this argument when the DC penalty was introduced. If it's needed a temporary unvouch should be sufficient, just as every other rule break is handled (except of disconnects).

Your Edit is obviously right, that's why flaming is always a hard topic to handle thus I think only excessive flaming should be warned/punished.
