Trying to be a positive influence

Because there has been a lot of arguing lately, I thought it was time to make a post that could have a positive influence on everyone.

It is clear that legion has all the aspects of being as addictive as gambling. The addictive part in gambling is the instant reward they give. So if you win, you don't see it on your bank account weeks later, but it is there immediately. This combined with the possibility of luck makes people want to try it. Funny enough, legion has pretty much the same properties. You can be rewarded immediately by status, a win and ELO and you can get good towers every roll, which is the luck factor.

I can see that most people are addicted in here. Look at BeepBoopBeep, he has over 210 games played already. Taking an average of 30 minutes per game this is 105 hours of non-stop gaming since the beginning of the LIHL. Laststand is not far behind with over 200 games, iightfyre with over 170 games, besides his admin tasks. Eldryan started to play a lot just a short while ago, but he has 139 games already. LIHLDiabloDuck has played 33 games in the last 2 days. If we take 1 game to be 30 mins on average, then he has played 16,5 hours in the last 48 hours. I could go on for a long while for a almost all of our players, but I reckon you get what I mean now.

But don't worry, there is a way out !! I have re-worked a number of reasons to gamble and made them suitable for legion players. Please read all options carefully, pick the one that suits you best and follow the advice!

-------

Reason to play legion: To provide excitement, get a rush of adrenaline
Solution: Sport or a challenging hobby, such as mountain biking, rock climbing, or Go Kart racing, masturbating (seriously you play legion for an adrenalinerush? WTF! Your life must be so boring, go to reason 4)

Reason: To be more social, overcome shyness or isolation
Solution: Counseling, enroll in a public speaking class, join a social group, connect with family and friends, volunteer, find new friends, find any friends at all, stop being a retard, put some gel in your hair

Reason: To numb unpleasant feelings, not think about problems
Solution: Therapy, suicide (I don't think anybody plays LIHL for this reason, because LIHL is a chain of unpleasant feelings and problems)

Reason: Boredom or loneliness
Solution: Find something you’re passionate about such as art, music, sports, or books then find others with the same interests (this does not include someone with a legion passion) - in other words, GET A FRIGGIN LIFE

Reason: To relax after a stressful day
Solution: As little as 15 minutes of daily exercise can relieve stress. Most effective is stomping your boss or girlfriend for 15 minutes. Or deep breathing, meditation, or massage

Reason: To solve money problems (after all, you can win 50 dollars winning this league)
Solution: The odds are always stacked against you so it’s far better to seek help with debts from a credit counselor, or if your debts are too big, rob a bank or sell your body

----

I hope this helps !!

Gaming doesn't count as a hobby?
I honestly like to come home after work, blaze and play a few games of LTD, HoN or Marvel. Gaming is my relaxation and I don't take it to the heart like some players when they lose.

Gaming
Pros : Keeps your mind simulating(constantly thinking of different strategies), Helps you communicate with other players (socially interactive), saves money (sometimes I'd rather stay home, game and save money than go out and spend it at a bar with friends or what not)
Cons: Too time consuming, a lot of QQer's, Ragers, and Trolls (depending on the game)

How do you figure people that game don't have lives? This can be a hobby for them during the weekday, since people go to school and/or work. Personally, I like to golf but this sport is just too expensive if I constantly play :(

Edit: Mickey, I'm not attacking you or anything.....just saying

@iight You are such a lost case... :P

@Hatelose, you are reading it wrongly. You need to get a life if the reason you play Legion TD is 'boredom or loneliness'. As far as I can see, you are playing it because you think it is fun to play. You have it under control (for example, you don't think legion is more important than real life, and you haven't played 35 games in 2 days), so there is no problem for you.

Btw, I went to public speaking class for the first time today! I was a bit scared at first and I had to cry a bit when my mother went home, but then they gave me tea and said nice things to me. In the end I was only a little bit sad and I didn't have to cry anymore.. I am looking forward to next week !!

Mickey, my bad. I did read it incorrectly :P .

I honestly think public speaking is hard. I always used to get nervous before having to do a presentation in front of my classmates (when I was in college). After a few times you get used to it and isn't as hard. I really don't have a problem or trouble doing speaches or talking in public anymore. I'm glad it went well for you :D. Good luck again next week!

Leave my Beep alone, you are not his mother, he can do whatever he wants for however long he wants. Same goes for the others as well. They are playing a game, not slaughtering newborns for a satanic sacrifice.

Retard? Guys who gel their hair look like tooles.

If you want to joke about suicide on a forum, go to 4chan, where people won't find it offensive.

Domestic violence, too? Classy.

I found just about everything in this post to be more around the lines of 'self-serving passive aggressive arrogance with a side of God Complex', but okie dokie. Thanks for the positive boost! I think I'm going to go sit outside on my deck, bathe in the sun, and write the worlds next great novel after reading this life changing post, thank you for that.... :D LUL JK I'M GONNA SIT AROUND AND PWN SOME NOOBS ON DOTA 2.
Have a wonderful day!

Wtf, Milena!

*yawn* Says the guy typing out this pointless list.

Yeah, I wanted to type "this goes for the author of this post too" between brackets, but it would have spoiled the goal of the post, wouldn't it? :P

Of course it is totally unclassy and outrageous, milena, but that was (besides making fun of the players here and ironically taking the moral high ground in a totally unsympathetic manner) the point of this post!

Retard? Guys who gel their hair look like tooles.

I meant putting some gel in your hair as a metaphor for taking care of yourself a bit. Shave your beard, get rid of the extra kilo's.. Aaaahhh am I really going to seriously explain a joke? You take the fun out of it :( I thought Canadians had a sense of humour, you have (had) Leslie Nielsen for the obvious jokes and Leonard Cohen for the subtle ones, surely you can say something funny about my post?

Everything you said was intended as a joke. I started off trying to be a positive influence, just to follow up by saying what you should and shouldn't do, going personal, saying some outrageous things and being incredibly rude. Surely, someone must have seen the irony?

(If you want more background lol)
I just saw a documentary about gambling the other night, and while watching it I couldn't help but noticing the similarities with legion TD. In there, they compiled this list of reasons to gamble, and in my mind I saw all those solutions that they gave mingling with those outrageous solutions I had in my mind. Just for my own laughs, I wrote them down. When I had written it down I thought, why not post it on the forum? I had a good laugh from it, maybe someone will have too, or can say funny things about it (like iight and hate :) ). In my mind, it surely had to raise the spirits in here :P
Edit: move this to archive if you want, I guess the joke did not work and it isn't funny anymore anyway, it was probably too close to home and too near the bone, and it will probably just lead to flamewars now. Sorry if you felt offended milena, I won't post such stuff again.

Ah annoying, nobody gets that Milena's post was just stating the obvious and pointing it out she showed she didn't get the joke, and now you think she's funny because she's a girl... aaahhhh this forum is driving me mad!!!!!

To paraphrase Louis van Gaal: Am I too smart for this forum or are you too stupid??????????????
Yes that was intended as a joke for you (you know who yourself) who don't have any sense of irony
I think it's funny she is flaming/trolling you. Not that she's a girl. If it was someone else who said it, I'd think it was funny too. This topic is for fun and jokes, nothing personal for anyone....i would hope.

Yeah, you got me there, Mick.
There was not a trace of humor whatsoever in that post of mine, I ruined all the fun. Yours was absolutely hilarious, though.
I apologize for being such a prude, I should learn not to take things so seriously.

Hehe I am the master of pretense!! I got you there with my whining pose again didn't I?? I wish you would have gone on a little longer, I had some funny other things. I wanted to to make Hatelose say he was hoping for some cybersex and I wanted to fake to stop in this forum because nobody got my jokes and try to get a rule implemented about an obligatory sense humour!!!!

Anyway, I loved your hair gel picture <3 You WERE funnier than me, and my pretense of feeling wronged all the time probably wasn't as funny too. But at least I have something to do when I'm tired of writing my theses, and I find myself INCREDIBLY funny, so at least someone thinks I'm HILARIOUS :D :D

Edit: You gotta admit: what a way to save myself from complete foolishness !!

Alright I was hoping to make some fun WITH people and not OF people (me ofc). And I'm very bad at making fun OF people as you can see :P Admins please remove this topic forever, I don't want to be reminded that I have failed so hard and I won't ever try to be funny again!!
