I was once a Mod for Saucer, hosting Legion TD 2.7c, Revos and Pro versions of LTD. The one thing that made 2.7c so good, was that it was really balanced in the way that all units was good at their own way for their own waves (based on the dmg and armor type).
What I feel when I play LTD Hell, is that it's very unbalanced in the sense that you only build for the bosses. That means some units with the right dmg and armor type is extremely glorified and a necessity to survive. It actually starts to get a little boring. Just building pierce dmg for 10 and magic for 20.
So here is my solution to a more variety gameplay:
- 1. Degrade the bosses dmg and armor.
2. Increase the dmg or armor for the units from wave 2 til 9, and perhaps 11 til 19 as well.
I believe this will make it both easier and harder at the same time. You will now have to consider when to upgrade lumber based on your build for the next round, and also slow the extremely high pasted income at the start. There will also be a more diverse set of builds, other than just Alpha Males and Dark Mages. I also know that changing these things can be very dangerous, so it has to be a long progress for a better end with small tweaks and turns.
