Again I got banned for leaving a game in the lobby before the game was even full/countdown was initiated.

Nope. You got autobanned. then you try join it again but, message says "You are currently banned reason" etc... Am I right?

If you leave before the loading screen at countdown, it kicks you out of the game. So, you are registered IN the game, but because you left right before loading screen showed (3.. 2.. 1..) It holds you ingame and once you're done 'loading', it boots you out because you already left the game in the lobby.
@curdi are you leaving lobbies around 3 seconds during countdown?

As I said, the game wasn't even full and the countdown was not even initiated when I got thrown back into the game list screen.

Apparently when I get kicked from the game on my screen, I still remain in the game (friend said that I was still in the lobby after I got thrown out)
Is there a reason for this?

Which one is it are you leaving the game voluntarily or being kicked from it?

@Mariah is right, it was my first thought too you were leaving under the 3 second mark and getting pushed into game then DCed.

Just to clarify with what I said before I will go on the basis that you said you left game before it was full or the game was actually initiated. I cannot get actually time stamps off lobby chat idk if mods can but the last person to join the game was [System]: *** player [Mateo] has joined the game. This would have been the latest point you could have left/kicked right before he came in. Mateo then dls map and gets pinged and then countdown. That is a loooonnnnngggg time in the lobby.

Sorry for the confusion, I am indeed getting kicked out of the game(s) (on my screen) but it seems that for some reason others still see me in the lobby, and when they start the game I disconnect, despite me being in the game selection screen (on my screen).

You either left during countdown and you dont remember which game it was or you left during the load screen.
