Ban appeal from an expected bot's bug (ban dodge)

Postby joelicious » Tue Jun 05, 2018 9:43 am

Your Warcraft III username: Acnalleb
Realm/Gateway: Northrend
Why are you banned: Ban dodging ???!!!
Why you should be unbanned:

Hello,

So few days ago i was banned for like 1 hour, maybe 2 if I remember but i'm not sure, but atleast it was minimum 2 hours or maximum a day, nothing crazy. So after a while i entered a game and it worked ! After my game end I went to another one and finally see that im still banned and guess what ? I took care about the exact date and hour and then waited till i was allowed to play again !

So I'm banned for like a year because your bot didnt work ?! I click on a game and im allowed to play it without using anything since its my computer at work while my break, so why i should wait ? And honestly when i entered the game it was to check if i was still banned so i don't understand what's happening.

Maybe you can check that i was banned at first, then played 1 or 2 games anyway before i see that i was under the same ban and then waited till the end.

Were you banned at home or at work? If you were banned at home and proceeded to play at work, then that is ban dodging, even if you think the ban is over, which you can always check by either using the stats page > bans or amibanned through entlink.

Hello pr0totype,

I play at home AND at work too, but all the things I'm tellin you happened at work only on the same computer and the same day.
I saw at first that i was banned, then after a while i entered a game to check back how many hours or days where remain because i didnt rly paid attention the first time and surprise i was able to play so i did it. There was no way to call for help or even ask anything since it was in my mind simply a mistake from the bot.
After a break, i come back on it, still at work and one the same comp during a pause and see that I'm still banned so I didn't understand but there was not so many time to wait so i waited till the ban is done. I mean, I'm banned for less than a day, and i don't know how to dodge, and even if i knew i can wait for few hours or a day to play like i did sometimes, that's not a drug. Why i would dodge a so little ban especially when i did wait while the previous or simply ask what was wrong ?

If the bot allow me to play when i did absolutely nothing to trick it, then this ban is clearly hard to understand.

@joelicious

I banned you because you posted an appeal for an autoban (ban was for 1.5 days), then switched your IP while your ban was still active to play WC3 games on our bot. Ban dodging is a serious offense that holds a punishment of 1 year. You were autobanned on the-losing-way#europe.battle.net and then switched your IP to dodge on acnalleb#europe.battle.net. Based on your join attempts and the appeal you posted, I find it hard to believe this was an accident - autobans tells you when the ban is lifted, you were playing before the ban had expired. Since you made the appeal, you were clearly aware of this ban and should've been aware of the duration. Any comments on this? How would you do things differently in the future?

Hello Kappa,

After my second disc, i was clearly aware that i would risk a ban, so ye, when i saw i was finally banned after tryin to join a game I went directly on the site to make an appeal regardless the amount of hours or days i had, after a while i enter a game to check exactly my ban time and instead of seeing my ban info etc, i see that i was able to enter the game so for me that wasn't a problem but later then i saw that i was still/again banned, i was like "wtf" but hey, I didnt have so much time to wait so i was like "okay, well no need for another appeal, lets take it". Curious thing that happen but, since I did nothing for it to happen, why i would worry about it ? When the ban showed up again, I simply waited till the end.

I switch on another acc because the other one (new) was already ruined by disc before i even try to climb elo, not another ip, im on a modem, even with my 2 disc in a row i highly doubt that puttin it off/on can do such thing.

If I was aware of a way to dodge ban, why i wouldnt try again instead of tryin hard to explain something I don't understand in a language that i don't speak clearly (even if i can "make my point" in a certain way) to someone who wasn't with me irl to see that I did nothing wrong ?
No offense of course, but if it's hard for you to believe a simple mail and, of course i understand, imagine then how hard is it for me to explain that i did absolutely nothing on purpose about something that is a serious offense :/

How i would do things differently in the future ? Well, don't really know since I clearly know and understand the rules and your point, but I did nothing on purpose to make it happen, or maybe, clearly "maybe", if you have a clue on how can this happen without the will to dodge, i would then ask you few questions and take a big note about it, like, is this a program, the fact to do a new acc or puttin the modem on and off after a break due to troubles on a line or even playin on another pc etc etc etc...

I understand that you may not have been fully aware of all our rules and ban dodging, however, you are playing on our bots and it is your responsibility to follow the rules. You had all the information avaliable to you to see that you were still banned but able to play because you switched from your work IP to your residential IP. In the future, you should check to see if your ban had expired on the other account before you start playing again.

That being said, this seems to be an honest mistake. I will unban you if you complete the following. I want you to read our thoroughly so this doesn't happen again. (Look for rules about ban dodging)

Hello joelicious,

please link us the general rules and the game specific rules of the game(s) you got banned in, and highlight the specific rule(s) you believe you violated.
You can find them on our wiki.

That way, we can ensure another rule-violation by you, caused by not-knowing the rules, will not happen again. After linking us to the rules, we expect you to have read them. Cooperating with us will have a positive effect on your ban duration.

Thank you for this, I know that it's not so simple to make a statement in that kind of case.

Well, I'll check it for sure but I'll come back to you or check if there's a specific thread if I have any questions about it, due to my certain lack of knowledge about things like ip, bots etc...

But again, thank you !

@joelicious

I know your English isn't the best. The rule I was looking for is:

Do not dodge your bans. Dodging is defined as playing on a different account while being banned on another account, often by a (purposely triggered) change of the IP. Dodging is considered a major offense equal to maphacking.

Please be more careful in the future when you are banned. Unbanning.

Processing.
