RaptorXI@Europe

Postby RaptorXI » Tue Apr 07, 2015 3:15 pm

Name:
RaptorXI (Stefan)

Age:
30

Moderation skills/experience for the following game(s):
Battletanks, Civilization Wars, Undead Assault, other custom games (I know that these games aren't as much on demand like Dota or Legion TD, which i don't play, however if this is requried you may save your and my time and deny this application here)

Brief introduction:
I would like to join the team, help trying to offer good games for all players and keep them with the rules. As for giving something, i would like to receive something back, like dealing with violaters without making a ban request everytime and having a colored name too. :3
I have been a gamer (PC and non-PC) since childhood and somehow i don't believe i can and will ever stop (so yes, i'm a nerd or addict but it's my only drug).
I registered here about 2 years ago without being active at first, because it was enough for me to be a normal user, without any rights or obligations.
Then i started to get active, got curious and after entering the chat for the first and talking some staff and non-staff members i feel it's a nice and active community and i would like to take part.

What are your current hours of playing time (approximate):
Average online time per week: 10-20 hours, depending on the situation @ real life

What is your current time zone:
Central-European time

Describe any relevant experience, both in moderating and in Warcraft III:
I play online games since the old Starcraft (~15 years ago) and have around 20k games played on Warcraft III3 only.
I am the creator and current of leader of Clan BT (Battletanks clan on Europe) , was shaman in 2 other clans before, one of them was back the in day a big, active clan with a forum and TS server.
I was part of Sake-AA, the team that won the first world-wide tournament for Battletanks in 2010, i'm also on the first page of the Civilization Wars ranglist, so i guesss i may call myself "pro" at these maps (and probably only these maps).

Why do you want to become a game moderator:
I would like both, give something and receive something back. As a moderator, i would like another step to take responsibility, not only for my own actions, but for everyone who plays, pusnishing those who break the rules, from a warning up to a ban.
I also feel i should tell about my own ban history on that aka: LiquidFire
https://entgaming.net/forum/viewtopic.p ... re#p154612 (refused to game ruiner when i was mid vs a stacked team, which sadly happens alot on Ent16)
https://entgaming.net/forum/viewtopic.p ... re#p211452 (exploit of a bug that makes it possible to forfeit and lose after the enemy team has left, i did this to demonstrate could need updates again, which i'm trying to promote)
Anyway, then bans were totally fine. If you only hire 100% inncocent at the staff, feel free to deny me at this point.

What will you bring to the ENT/Warcraft III community:
I mainly play Civ Wars on the Ent bots, i would like to bring old and new players more together, the map is hard to learn and there is alot of stacking on Ent16.
Since i have the unprotected map of the final version, which hasn't got updated since 4-5 years, i would like to see updates again, even it's just fixing of bugs and small balancing.
By checking the game list and ban request/appeal section Dota and Legion TD seem to be most hosted maps by far, however i don't play them. I am willing to help in this section to a ceratain but not about things where you need to know any pro stuff.
I had no experience at all to detect a maphacker, but after some practice with the tools (FCD + DRM) from the wiki and help by the moderators i can proof someone of maphacking, if he does fogclick or obivously knows something which he couldn't without hacking.

Activity and comments at the ban request/appeal section, chronologically sorted and listed both, approved and denied:

I'd recommend commenting on some non-CW brqs.

Elaborate more. Game moderator's main responsibility is concerning ban requests and appeals. Since you do not play DotA or LTD, in what other ways are you saying you will contribute and give something to the community?

Note that, you do not need to play these games to moderate them. Certainly helps, but if you understand the game, you should be able to review most ban requests.

Why do you keep saying "feel free to deny me" type of lines in your app? Are you serious in wanting to help out by committing your valuable time and putting the required effort reviewing ban requests and appeals?

I am willing to help with those mainstream games if there is rule breaking i can see without being experienced at the map, like flaming, votekick abuse or maphack. But my effort would end when it comes to pro stuff (Dota: he bought item X as hero Y, died Z times, Legion: he leaked X creeps at wave Y with only Z income).

If you can judge things based on common sense (general rules) and drm (maphack, other action logs), that is fine. As camb mentioned, start being familiar with the games and review ban requests while your app stays pending. Mods will be on chat to help you with any questions. Will look forward to your activity + analysis.

I can handle cases if there is a votekick abuse, flaming, maphack etc. But my knowledge at those mainstream games isn't enough to call myself a "pro".
I know feeding at Dota is bad and constantly leaking at Legion is bad. But if there was a ban request like "he obviosuly ruined the game by buying item X for hero Y and died Z times in a row" i would rather let someone handle that.

Maybe i should have written something like "feel free to hire me at once". ;)
I wouldn't apply if it wasn't meant seriously.

Commenting a few things before:

Would be nice if you actually review other type of games as well, for the most general cases (votekick abuse, flaming, afk/grief, etc). Will you try to do so?

Brief introduction:
I would like to join the team, help trying to offer good games for all players and keep them with the rules. As for giving something, i would like to receive something back, like dealing with violaters without making a ban request everytime and having a colored name too. :3

Applying for moderator doens't mean you will necessarily get something in return.. you should apply because you want to, and have the passion for it (Whatever comes from it is good obviously :) ) + "like dealing with violaters without making a ban request everytime" - Usually all of the bans are followed by a ban request on forum, let's call it transparency (i can further explain if needed, but i guess you can understand why)

Why do you want to become a game moderator:
I would like both, give something and receive something back. As a moderator, i would like another step to take responsibility, not only for my own actions, but for everyone who plays, pusnishing those who break the rules, from a warning up to a ban.

Once again, i'm kinda neutral towards your application due to this "I would like both, give something and receive something back" .. I don't feel like you're applying because you have the passion for it .. you're doing it mostly because you wish something in return. About the bans, well we all make mistakes on in a while, so as long as you've learned your lesson, it's all good :)

What will you bring to the ENT/Warcraft III community:

Once again, it's not a waste of time if you're being serious about it.. Anyways, i've met him quite a few times on chat, asked for help about tools (he learns fast, and is willing to learn if needed), good person, active on chat.

My only issues here so far would be: Overall activity on forum/ban requests and the usage of DRM tools; So far i'm standing !neutral (heading mostly to a !yes), but would like as others mentioned to see you comment a few non cw ban requests, focus on the ones which cover up general rules, the specific ones you can learn later if needed (Most of the ones reported are usually covered by general rules).

Good luck with the app!

PS: I've known you for a while now so i know your attitude/position isn't like that, but people will judge what they see, not what others know :)

I would like to join the team because of the Us/We (or what would be correct english grammar).
Yes, i have a ban history. And yes, i don't play the games that are actually in demand for the job.
But i know common rules and behaviour, on virtual and real life. I've read the requirements and I'm sure to meet them.
If there is a way we can find and work together, let me know.

Way too few ban requests. Why would you list a ban request from 2013..? Four in March and only one in April.

Before I further comment on the app, please provide some more topics to show your activity.

We are talking about the requirements from this link
http://wiki.entgaming.net/index.php?title=EntGaming:StaffApp
correct?

Criteria for ENT Moderators

All applicants must have at least 25 posts
and must have been a forum member for at least two weeks to be considered for a staff position.
Before applying, you should have commented on several EntGaming:Ban requests, indicating your thoughts on the ban.
Do not make posts if you do not have experience in the area; for example, on maphack related bans.
If you do not have significant experience with judging maphacking (for example, looking through replays for fog clicks), then do not post.
When you become a moderator, you will be expected to ask other moderators and learn about things like this though.
Additionally, to maximize your chances of being selected, you should be active on the forum and make valuable contributions to the forum.

This refers to the posts and private messages that you write; post count will not be considered. We will pay more attention to the actual content of your posts.

If you are rejected from a game moderator position, generally you must wait one month before applying again. There are exceptions on both sides to this rule, and in these cases the duration you must wait will be posted in your rejected application.

Please familiarize yourself with the EntGaming:Rules and EntGaming:ForumRules before applying. There will be additional policies that you must read if/when you become a game moderator.

Has anything changed since i wrote my application and is the wiki up to date?

Here are the other topics you asked for:
https://entgaming.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=49192
https://entgaming.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=50722
https://entgaming.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=53547
https://entgaming.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=53495
https://entgaming.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=53755

I somehow get the impression:
Can it be i underrate the amount of time i would have to spend? Are you as active as you demand me to be? And all others staff members?
I see two pages of pending ban requests, even until march. Shouldn't be either in my opinion.
I would like to join the team but i won't sacrifice my real life for it. Everyone has a limit.

^ these are all non brqs.

So your "limit" is 4 brqs a month? We need mods, yes. But I wont agree with hiring mods for the sake of getting mods.

tl;dr; I got to agree with Hyorinmaru. You want to join us because you want to be a part of the team but I am missing the passion ENT mods are supposed to have.

No, not 4 a month, but something in between 1-2 a day and 4 a week.
Also i thought a moderator could enforce rules by playing on his account.

If this is not enough then i will withdraw my appilcation.

Damn, i thought i could ever find a wife, build a house, plant a tree and kill an enemy.
Thanks for the instance clearing. I'm still gonna push civ wars as far as posssible, be ready to hire some moderators when it's done. ^^

Application withdrawn.
