Hi all my name is Doug. Im 58 years old and I'm the oldest dota player I know. You've seen me around of late as I've been helping out with ban requests for dota games. I have found the experience very enjoyable and thus would like to apply for a position as moderator. I play only two games on a regular basis (dota and gem td), but since I have become interested in moderating I have been playing others. If I'm selected I will be more useful if I can moderate more games than just dota. I played a game of civ wars yesterday and got thoroughly trounced.
I have been playing warcraft and dota for ten years now. I learned the game with my three sons, and although I'm too old to ever be good at it I do enjoy it immensely. One of the things I like about moderating is I can participate in a game without actually losing ELO
I'm a retired Emergency Room doctor. In september after 30 years I decided enough was enough. So suddenly I have lots of well earned time on my hands. My playing times can be all day at this point, and I live in california so I'm on pacific standard time.
I have no moderating experience as it relates to warcraft or online gaming. But I was the assistant medical director of the last emergency department I worked in. I chaired the patient satisfaction committee, the palliative care committee, and I was director of the hospital scribe program. These duties required me to moderate various groups and personalities including doctors, nurses, administrators, and patients. Im a good listener, patient, and a problem solver.
Here are some of my ban request posts:
I would like to become a moderator because I love the game, and ENT provides the best platform for its play. I dont like when people cheat, or ruin the game for others. I have found it very satisfying helping the moderators clean it up a little bit these last 2 weeks. As a newly retired person I have lots of time to invest in this, and look forward to learning more about the game of dota, and how to protect its integrity.
If selected I will bring passion for the game, wisdom in resolving disputes, and I will relieve larz from being the oldest dude here.
In conclusion, thank you all for taking the time to teach me. This is a terrific community and I like being a part of it. I would love the opportunity to serve, and look forward to that prospect.
