SeriouslyStrange Moderator Application

by SeriouslyStrange
Name: Denis, but my middle name is Brandon; you can call me either one!

Age: 20, about to be 21.

Game moderator specialty (see below for choices): Since my main game is Dota, it would mostly been that, but I've also been learning a lot on how to judge LTD games since moderators have been gladly helping out. Can also do basic instances for other games like afk, grief, flaming, etc.

Brief introduction: My name is Denis, and I currently live in Houston. I'm a short guy (at a measly 5'3") and I love puns and binging on Netflix. I plan to be a Civil Engineer and then get a masters degree in Structural Engineering and for it, I am currently attending University of Houston- Main Campus. At school and public events, I'm kind of a huge social klutz so I'll always be quiet unless someone talks to me directly XD. When I'm at home I usually just help out my brothers or try and help my mom out. Whenever I'm free to play a game, I either play Dota, random TD games, or a fighting game called Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3. I usually work with my brother in moving furniture, and its usually heavy, so I come home exhausted. I used to do MMA for a couple of years and unfortunately I had to quit DX.

What are your current hours of playing time (approximate): It depends a lot. Sometimes I work in the morning, sometimes I work at nights, and sometimes I'm just too exhausted to even play XD.

What is your current time zone: UTC- 05:00 - 08:00 America/Atitokan

Describe any relevant experience, both in moderating and in Warcraft III: Unfortunately I don't have very much experience in working as a moderator. All the moderator experience that I have is basically just me going through the forums on here, helping out other moderators (if that even counts).

Why do you want to become a game moderator: Ironically I was introduced to the forums because I was banned for the Dota Courier Glitch by Larz. From there I saw all the posts and how organized it is and I said "this is pretty cool" and I started surfing through it.

What will you bring to the ENT/Warcraft III community: Well, even though I am still just learning and began reviewing replays and appeals, I hope that I will learn quickly and catch up to all the other moderators on here. Thanks to them, I was able to learn alot, like LTD rules, and how to use DRM properly. I feel that with learning from the moderators, I can provide assistance and help wherever necessary as one as well. I've also tried being active in the chat whenever I can, and try helping people if I can.

Closing Statement: Hopefully I didn't miss anything, and I'm truly excited for opportunity to be a moderator! I feel that I can learn everything decently quickly, and with so many moderators helping me out, I'm sure I'll be there quick.

Below are Ban Requests that I've had some kind of input in:

100% support from me. I've helped SeriouslyStrange with the DRM along with some LTD info, and have noticed that he is a fast learner.
-Activity on forum and chat is great
-Reviews on ban requests are accurate
-Input on appeals are helpful
-Has drm knowledge
-Attitude is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable

Overall, SeriouslyStrange would make a great addition to the team. Goodluck! :D

Every review i read from SeriouslyStrange was very accurate and nicely written. He is also very active in the BRQs and appeals. Always helping out when he is able. Active in the chat as well, giving information to people who need it, and chatting.
Played a couple of Dota games with him recently. Very well mannered and good attitude.
Friendly and unbiased person.
I believe SeriouslyStrange would be a great moderator.

Support. Knows his stuff and I agreed with his reviews. He might need some practice in certain games but that's fine. Good attitude, never qq'Ed back when people got mad at his reviewed.

Good addition to the team.

While most of the brqs (the ones i read) are usually accurate, and shows a good knowledge on rules (He's also active on forum/chat, seems to be a nice guy from the few times we spoke), i did notice that there's basically not a single ban request for mh reviewal (fogclicks / suspicious movements):

Dota mods are always needed (DotA is still 1 of the most played games, so having more mods with dota knowledge, is definitely helpful), however and considering you mentioned dota is your main game, i would have expected to see a few mh reviewals (Mb you just dind't pin those in the app, but i dind't come across any either xd)

So it would be nice to see a few reviews on mh cases (Searching for fogclicks, reviewing suspicious movements, etc) :)

Good luck =D

He seems knowledgable, polite, and literate. That, combined with having showed consistent activity for weeks, is enough for my support.

Recently started looking at Dota Brq/Appeal and I see his name a lot.
Unbias and has a good sense of the rules.
Helps with posts that mods/admins couldn't get to yet.
Overall friendly and active user.
GL man!

Support. Excellent judgement, solid knowledge, will be a welcome addition. The maphack stuff can be learned.

I would like to see at least two maphack related cases before approval, thanks.

Ahh, the reason I didn't want to respond too much on MH related events (I responded on ones that were a clear deny), was because on the wiki for Staff Applications it said to not post on that stuff unless I had experience with it.

Do not make posts if you do not have experience in the area; for example, on maphack related bans.
If you do not have significant experience with judging maphacking (for example, looking through replays for fog clicks), then do not post.

Should I have a go at the ones I see while this applications is still open? ;-;

@SeriouslyStrange

Like Hyo has commented above, it is quite essential for DoTA mods to be able to review MH requests. You are free to review any open MH now. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to come to one of us.

Another thing I want to point out is that you should broaden your field of work, to fully understand the role of an ENT moderator and not just focus mainly on LTD requests (as you stated, your main is dota)

Aside from those 2 points, you could potentially be part of the team.

Good luck!
