Name:
My name is Kostas.
Age:
I am 24 y/o, since last February.
Game moderator specialty (see below for choices):
Mostly DotA and LOD. I recently started playing/reviewing LTD as well, and i am going to keep it up and try to improve, because i enjoy the game. I can also work on other simple violations on other games, like AFK, Votekick abuses etc.
Brief introduction:
I live in a medium sized town in north Greece. Was born here. I speak, in my opinion, more than good enough English to be able to communicate and interact with everyone, foreign or native english speaker. I am currectly a student. I started college studying Information Management, but 2 years into my studies the department got shut down, and merged with Business Administration. I had no option but to continue, as most people in the department.
I play online poker for a living, until i finish with my degree, and I wish to keep everything else on that matter private. I also enjoy online games. Was playing Lineage 2, Naia, part of a big clan for about 2 years.
I consider myself to be an introvert, enjoying time on my own. I am also not very talkative. I will hardly ever begin a conversation, but i am more that happy to continue and participate in one.
I am a fast, visual learner, especially when the instructions are clear. I love exercising my brain, be it by reading ( mostly online books/short stories or articles that interest me ) or solving problems. I define myself as a logical thinking person. I am always listening to both sides of the story before i rush into any conclusions. Critical thinking and common sense are two concepts i am very familiar with, and use them everyday. I am also an atheist. I need clear evidence before i believe in something, be it religion, or anything else.
A few more things that i enjoy are : hanging out with my friends and spending quality time with them, long drives in town or outside, both on motorcycle and car, rock-metal forms of music, swimming, bowling, meditating, walking, traveling.
What are your current hours of playing time (approximate):
I am currectly on summer vacations, and since i hate the summer heat in Greece ( around 40 C everyday ), i spend many hours at home. This, combined with my online poker habit, results into being online for more than 8 hours some days. I definitely spend 3-4 hours a day playing games.
Once my summer vacations are over, i will not be as active as right now. However, i will still be online for 5+ hours a day, most days.
What is your current time zone:
GMT +3, Athens timezone.
Describe any relevant experience, both in moderating and in Warcraft III:
I have zero experience in moderating. Never done anything similar, and to be honest, it never crossed my mind that someday i would apply for something like this. Don't ask me why, because i don't know. I was just playing my games, not ever really thinking about it.
I've been playing Warcraft III for more than 10 years. I can't remember exactly how many, but it was the first game i ever bought. I remember having to save money for a month to buy it. I started out on single player, campaigns and normal maps, then moved to ladder games. I got banned for maphack on ladder about 7-8 years ago i believe ( I should not have said that ). I was young when that happened, so don't worry. I more than learned my lesson, and never even considered using such programs ever again. All those years i played many games, mostly strategic ones or tower defence. Some of them are Azeroth wars, Broken alliances, Wars of the 12 Kingdoms, warlocks, Greed TD, Lotr and middle earth risk, some other risk games, and many others i can't even remember. And of course, a lot of DotA. I was also in a Broken Alliances clan in ROC, but nothing much.
Been playing dota for more than 7 years, and i consider myself a good player.
Why do you want to become a game moderator:
As i said above, up until 3-4 weeks ago, i never even thought about it.
About a couple of months ago, i got banned for game ruining. Was my second offense, and got 7 days by BeerLord. I couldn't stand 7 days without playing on ENT, simply because nothing compares to ENT, so i came for an appeal. I talked with BeerLord, and he decided to unban me.
After that, i started being more careful and respectful towards the ENT rules, and i started reporting players who were breaking them. Which is how it all started.
One day, i got a message from HazarDous, asking me if i would be interested in a position as moderator. I didn't even have to think about it for more than a minute, before i decided that i wanted to do it. He walked me throught what i had to do before i appeal, and here i am.
My main reason for doing this, is because i find myself enjoying watching replays of games, and spotting players who are abusing the rules. Especially maphack cases, both for clean people and for those who use it. My hope is, the more people get banned, the more people will have to come here to appeal, learn the rules, and start respecting them. Resulting into a much better gaming experience. Exactly as it happened with me.
I really appreciate what ENT is doing, and i would love to be a part of it, and offer my help and time in any way i can.
What will you bring to the ENT/Warcraft III community:
Mostly my activity. I keep both chat and the ENT BRQ section always open, and i keep checking it out of passion, just to see what's going on. I am throurough with my reviews, and never let personal interests or anything else, factor in my decisions. I will follow every single rule there is, and work with those rules always on my mind. I will never use my powers ingame in any way, unless it's 110% clear and acceptable.
I am person who learns from his mistakes, and never repeats them. Leaving aside a misunderstanding i had about the Antistuck rules, more specifically, i thought that the following rule "Must be used on your stuck units.", is absolute, and you can only use antistuck on stuck units. So i ended up making a report about 6 people in one game, who were using it to their not stuck towers, in order to finish off leaks.
But, Jabba offered to explain to me what i did wrong. I asked him, he made a very clear clarification about it, which i completely understand.
So, leaving all this aside, i believe i am ready for this position. When i am given a responsibility, especially one that i asked for, i make sure not to break that trust, and do everything in my power to see it through.
Closing Statement:
I would just like to let you know, that i was inactive between 10-16 of august for 2 reasons. Between 10-12 because i could not open the site at all, and 12-16 because i was enjoying my vacations on the beach with my friends.
I will add my reviews in the end.
Thank you for taking the time to read through all this, getting to know me.
Kind regards,
Kostas
I decided to add almost all of my reviews. I will just label each one of them, so you won't have to spend a ridiculous amount of time going through them.
