wc3 won't start

Starting today, my wc3 no longer opens. I double click the shortcut, the "load" windows spinning circle cursor icon appears and then stops and nothing happens. Clicking the .exe directly does the same thing. There's no error message, nothing. I've had it actually open a couple of times, but it only happens randomly several minutes after the attempt, and once it does it's lagging and unplayable (the menu animations and mouse cursor lag). I just had to reboot computer because I've messed with it a bunch of times and it lagged so much it became unusable. Every other program is fine and wc3 should be exactly as it was yesterday, when it worked perfectly fine. Anyone know what the deal is?

It's doing that for me as well and have found out that it has something to do with connecting to internet. I actually got it to work by disconnecting from the internet, starting the game, and then connecting again. Problem is you need to do it every time you start the game . Guess something is down from Blizzard's side and is not connecting.

I guess the answer to every wc3 problem lately is "Blizzard did something stupid again".

Edit: You're 100% right about the internet connection thing. Unplug modem, start wc3, plug back modem. I have no idea how you came up with this solution. Being connected to Internet prevents wc3 from starting properly? In what Bizarro world is this supposed to make sense?

Can't 100% confirm, but likely connected to the anti-cheat. However, instead of restarting your modem, simply disabling your computers internet adapter, launch wc3, and re-enabling will allow you to start instantaneously. Wifi being easier as you simply disconnect and reconnect to your network.
