After Patch, can't start WC3 because of "missing CD key"

Made the update/patch, and since then I can't start WC3 nor WC3 Frozen throne...I keep getting the error message Warcraft 3 couldn't find the CD key, please reinstall game from CD. However, I bought the game online through blizzards digital shop, so there's no CD..I also tried to delete everything and reinstall, but still keeps on asking for CD code. System is Mac OS. Anyone an idea?

its related to some remnant of older versions.
after updating the game you should have an Warcraft III Launcher.exe in your wc3 folder
try to run it again. this solved the issue for me.
otherwise delete your wc3 properly again and check that you have no copy of the game somewhere else on your device.
further:
Players with Mac 10.11 may need to restart their computer the first time after patching/installing to successfully run the game

@YoMamaIf you bought it online, you can also redownload the downloader for the game for free at "battle.net" ... submenu "classic games" or smth like that. This should solve the problem aswell.

Got ''Missing CD Key'' which I resolved by deleting my WC3 folder & got it from battle.net website (1.27b) and updated it to (1.28) from BNet.
