I appear to be stuck in a perpetual update. Anyone know how I can solve this so I can log into Battle.net and continue playing?

Hi @Keelay,

When you're updating, have you attempted to run the application as an administrator?

If you've already completed the download you should be able to find the "BlizzardPrepatch" in your installation folder. Alternatively you can relaunch your Warcraft III client as an administrator, and re-download the patch.

If push comes to shove, you could always re-download the installer from the official battle.net site as they have updated the installer for the current patch. This would require you to uninstall/install the game, and I would recommend you backing up any important maps/saves/etc. before you do so.

Hopefully this has helped.

*EDIT*
Just ran into an issue where it is trying to patch the game after I already patched to 1.28.3

Seems they release another update! (1.28.4)
Launch your game through the "Warcraft III Launcher" and it should say an update is available.
Hopefully that helps!

Here is a statement from Pete Stilwell who is a developer for Classic Games

Code: Select all

Greetings Commanders,

We're working on a hotfix for players on XP to resolve the GetTickCount64 bug.

We're also removing the dependency on vcruntime140.dll when patching.

When encountering any problems other than GetTickCount64, here is a method to use the launcher to heal any missing or corrupt files:
1. Go to your installation folder
2. Run Warcraft III Launcher.exe

Cheers,
Classic Games

Not really no. I don't see how running it as admin can fix anything. It's still updating for me.

This update deleted my exe for TFT. I can't find it so I have to click on regular Warcraft icon. What is the command so I minimize it will actually minimize it instead of running open in the background?

Game window or resolution size?

Add -nativefullscr in shortcut's properties -> target

Pick resolution in video settings

-nativefullscr

I ran the update... but then when I clicked launch, I wasn't able to load the game and then the icon was deleted from my desktop.

I opened the folder in c: went to WC3 and just loaded from there and had no problems.

Hi @darklord1992,

Are you using Gproxy++ Varlock GUI version?

If so, why not try using Gproxy DLL which launches as a plugin for Warcraft III when it is launched normally. Does not require any additional commands, and is a very simple setup. Once the files have been placed into the folder you get a new realm for "Gproxy", and this is used to connect to your desired server as listed in the .cfg file. After you just login to the server per normal with the new gateway, and you should be set.

Here are a few links to GProxy DLL instruction/download:
Official Site - http://www.mymgn.com/gproxy/
Or
ENT Wiki - http://wiki.entgaming.net/index.php?title=Gproxy_DLL

If you really want to use GProxy++ Varlock, try changing the name of "Warcraft III.exe" to "War3.exe" and make sure the setting version is set to '28'. If you have any additional errors while trying to use the GUI version let me know and I'll try and assist as best I can.

I might be late to the party here but adding -nativefullscr to my exe. target location does nothing. The game still runs in windowed full screen.

@CmdrCupcake

Make sure when adding -nativefullscr that you include a space before the last ".

Example:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Warcraft III\Warcraft 3.exe" -nativefullscr

Just tried this myself and -nativefullscr is working.
