Twilight's Eve ORPG Final r2

Postby Luis Garcia » Fri Feb 07, 2014 7:19 pm

Link to map (or load code if it's on the public hosting bot): o9qb9
Number of players until autostart: 5
Why the map should be autohosted: Twilight's Eve is incontestably one of the best RPG map for Warcraft III and I find it deserves to be autohosted.

In this topic:

Code: Select all

Just to be clear - what's, in your opinion, a popular game? What number of starts per day/week makes some map popular? Just give us some criteria. I played TEve many times (on BGN bots) and, believe me or not, there where about 30 games daily with autostart set to 5. I don't think it's a bad result. We probably won't reach that number now (if you decide to host it) but I'm sure there are still many players wanting to play Twilight's Eve, so please give this map a chance. Let's see how "popular" it will be. After all, you can always remove TEve from hosting list if number of games won't be satisfactory.

Special notes: I want to say a few words about a load code I wrote in this post.

I downloaded TEve from official Normax blog:

Code: Select all

http://normax.blog.ca/

It is called "Twilight's Eve ORPG Final Revision 2" (was hosted by BGN) and it's latest version of TEve. After downloading, I changed map name to requested (Twilight's Eve ORPG Final r2.w3x) and I tried to upload it using ENT Link, then I got an info I can't do that because this map is already uploaded and I recieved the code. In this way, we can be sure that this is official and not hacked version.

What's the problem with people who want to play it just hosting it with entlink? I see it happen all the time.

Every map can be hosted like that, so in that case I suggest to remove all autohosting bots. Let the people host only by ENT Link then. (irony mode: OFF)

There's a difference between 3000 games a month and 100 games a month.
If you do not give us plausible arguments except every map can be (auto)hosted, then we can also deny this.

We do not simply add a bot because 10 players like it. There must be a rather big community behind it.

Check this site:

Code: Select all

https://entgaming.net/statsbot.php

Click the "Games in last week", scroll down and see how many maps with "[ENT]" in game name have less number than 100. What arguments do you have to explain this? Why these maps were added? Where's a big community of (for example) Zombie Infection Virus or Pudge Wars?

It's not fair that you added them for unknown reason and, on the other hand, you don't want to just give TEve a chance.

This topic isn't about the current added maps which surely had a reason to be added long ago.

Anyway, @uakf.b should decide.

Of course it isn't but I wanted justice and that's why we should talk about other maps here.

Look at this:

Code: Select all

Quite recently, pretty fast decision without angry moderators trying to tell you how stupid is your idea...

Isn't that mean Twilight's Eve is still quite popular?

Anyway, I've found something interesting at the statsbot site. There is a one map called now "Twilights Eve" and its number of games is 353. And how about that? Better result than, let's see, about 40 other [ENT] games.

I think uafk.b is trying to stay away from games with no replay value, like, Twilight's Eve, since once you beat it and get a max level character with the best items, there's nothing to do anymore and it gets boring. This is especially true for an rpg map like Twilight's Eve, since it's no longer being updated. That is why I suggested all rpg maps be hosted on a random rpg bot. That way, even if you beat one rpg, there's a new one to play every day.

I didn't notice that topic, sorry.

In this case, your suggestion seems to be better than mine.
