Making your bans more objective and less judgemental

Postby DotaPlayer » Sat Oct 25, 2014 2:11 pm

Many of your bans seen on your forums are mostly based on judgement with little true evidence.
True evidence in terms of what can be seen: such as fogclicks, words typed.

For example,
maphack should be based on a certain number of fogclicks (say 3x fogclicks, to ensure that they are not dubious)
flaming or ruining should be based on screenshots (such as words typed or actions seen that they have ruined in terms of item destroying)
votekick abuse should be based on evidence and clear indicators similar to that of a normal game set by the creator of dota (such as afk more than 5 min; refusal to votekick a player who dies more than a certain number of times).

There are too many grey areas for judgement by moderators and administrators; making it open for racist and subjective judgemental decisions to be made.

This is possibly why many players do not like ENT; for example, if you search on entgaming.net/openstats, you can find 'ENTsucks'.
Sometimes you can randomly see players with nicks hating ENT.

Anyone who reads this point and feels that this will make the community better; feel free to second it.

Bans are objective. Purpose of a ban is to educate and punish those who break our rules and standards. We hope that peeps will not repeat the the same mistake after their ban time. We try not to overban people. Our ban lengths are based on a standard and it goes up and down from there depending on the mod's review of the case: violator's impact to the game, intentions of rule break, and previous ban offense history.

Less judgmental? We are moderators for a reason. We judge you when another ENT user reports you for rule breaking. If you do not think our judgement is fair, you have all the freedom and room to refute ur case by appealing, talking on chat, sending a PM, and finally posting a complaint. Each case is unique and different in some way, therefore, ban requests and appeals are dealt individually case by case. All in all, if you did nothing wrong, there should not be a problem + someone shouldnt report you if so. If reported, most likely there was some type of "conflict".

Gray area? One or more human being are reviewing another's actions. I trust that all moderators will review a case in a reasonable matter. As long as a ban is within logical and reasonable grounds, there should not be a problem.

Hate ENT? Why should I care when immature kids react by making stupid names due to their negative trolly angry nature? Funny thing is they are "gaming" to have fun and using our service, so calling it "suck" or "hate" contradicts their representation. I have checked and there are only a few who make such names within our entire database. Flaming and trolling is a natural phenomena on the Internet. If you cannot tolerate minor flaming, you should not be on the Internet or gaming with others virtually. You can avoid verbal conflicts by typing !ignore [name] /squelch [name]. If it becomes excessive or intensive, you may report.

Our rules are way more specific compared to many previous communities. These rules exist for those who fail to follow "common sense" and, therefore, ruin games. If you lack common sense, think more. You are a rational being.

You seem new to the forum. Go bother reading some processed ban requests and our wiki for more background and information. Feel free to talk to me afterwards on chat. Till then, waste of my time.
