Close lobby if host afk ?

Hello, today and yesterday I joined a lobby with an afk host. Both lobbies last more than 1 hour. It would be impossible with makemehost because when you don't repub the game during 20 minute, the game in unhosted. Maybe you should do something like that, to avoid players joining and waiting in afk lobbies.

OK, thanks for the suggestion. Host bots will now close the lobby if the host doesn't chat for ten minutes. After nine minutes, a warning about impending lobby closure will be announced every 5 seconds.

Given how long some lobbies can take to fill due to legitimate reasons, I think 10 mins is a very small interval of time. Especially now that we have people hosting 24 player games! Which can take upwards of an hour to fill.

I also think 1 minute for the warning is also very small since I imagine most hosts alt tab while waiting and periodically check. I would say 25 minutes for the warning to begin every 10 seconds and then the lobby closes at 30 minutes, or something similar.

I increased to 15 minutes warning / 20 minutes close for now.

Many players has left ent due to lobby closing every time we host. Ent is unusable now.

Please remove this obstacle so we can host games again.

Players can still join, and the bots are still playable, and can be confirmed by multiple other players as well.

The only ones that seem to be leaving are the ones that severely AFKs and hold bot queue, or they're almost nonexistent.

Only low end maps under 8mb are playable now. Quality maps over 100mb take 20 minutes to download for each player. So it creates problems for hosts who play high end maps.
Or the limit can be increased to 60 minutes, it sounds fair.

@Holymond I think the 20 minutes time might be enough. After 15 minutes of no chat from the host, there will be 5 minutes of warnings every 5 seconds before the lobby is closed. I will see after a couple days how many legitimate lobbies actually go through the 20 minutes.

Well, there'll be significantly less quality maps being hosted in the future. We'll see.

A well made map.

The quality of maps will go down because high quality maps take a very long time to download, and by adding the limit high quality map lobbies will be forced to close.

Considering that holymond is guilty of afk lobby host himself, (i've had to close many a lobbies that are 3+ hours with just him and checking if he was not afk), 20 minutes is a generous offer for a host to type into chat.

We can do something more : if an !autostart is on, it's useless to close the lobby if the host is afk. Moreover, now, when the game starts w3 window goes back to the front, so we can't miss our game start, unless we're really away from the keyboard.

Not true. You can set auto start to a number higher than what the lobby is set to. for example !autostart 25, and even if the lobby is full, the game would never start. It is better to have the host talk every 20 minutes than to go off this.

The !autostart is fine the way it is, the host has to type something in to prevent the game from unhosting, but pretty good idea that you have came up with. :)
