Ban offensive names

Ban offensive names
Offensive communication (including usernames) is against Blizzard's code of conduct. However, Blizzard has not allocated much resources to classic games, so moderation of these games is near non-existent. I believe it is ENT's responsiblity to not allow hate speech or offensive communication in-game and lobby. There should be no tolerance for this kind of behavior. It is sad that ENT has no stance on this just to make it easier on themselves to moderate. If you've put yourself in a position where you're hosting a majority of games on WC3, you have a responsibility to foster a positive environment for players. Please consider improving your standards for conduct in games.
Re: Ban offensive names
There's a difference between offensive behavior based on a person's race/gender/sexual orientation, and trivial things like what clothes they wear. Preventing actual hate speech as defined by US law should be the minimum.
Re: Ban offensive names
I'm in full agreement of this. If you can't be a decent human being you shouldn't be here.

Re: Ban offensive names
B.net has disabled the creation of account names containing the F word, the S word, the N word and also the name of a certain mustachioed fellow that starts in H. I believe that's the maximum that's humanly possible to do in order to discourage and prevent the creation of bad names and I don't think there are any possible means to circumvent such a barrier. Anything beyond that would require effort, and I'm sure nobody wants to resort to such extreme measures.

Also what's the S word? Slut?
No, but yours isn't allowed either. Gee, they really thought of everything!

I meant your S word. The one I meant is the lifelong companion of the F word. Both are disabled.

Re: Ban offensive names
This will most likely not happen. If bnet allow certain names, then ent will allow it aswell.
It would also be too much work for ent to ban all the names just because it's offensive to some people.
For example George raped/killed someone in person A' s family. Players with the name George is now a offensive name to A

This kind of argument never holds up in reality. Nobody is going to ban a username like that. Moderators have common sense to not ban for cases like that. It's generally abundantly obvious to everyone when a username is offensive. 'e.g. 'alljewsshoulddie' 'ihateniggers' etc

Re: Ban offensive names
Blizzard already bans certain words. Side note: some of these are normal words, like "anonymous", and a few others i can't remember.
For the exception of unreadable names, ENT follows the same restrictions as Blizzard. I see no reason for this to change.

Vipassana: to see things as they really are. This meditation was rediscovered by Buddha more than 2500 years ago and was taught by him as a universal remedy for universal ills. This technique aims for the total eradication of mental impurities and the resultant highest happiness of full liberation

Because there are plenty of ways to get around such an automated system.

Re: Ban offensive names
1. Waste of ressources.
2. People with an offensive behaviour will get reported anyway, if someone has a toxic name and is a good and nice player i dont see a problem.
3. Its highly based on the user whats offensive and whats not, same for mods. It would only lead to a new big thing to discuss for pros that are nearly non existend.
Too many cons, Denied.
