Personally I am no fan of introducing rules to limit strategies. However, the line between strategy and abuse/unfairness is often thin and I can't really tell what is the case in 1200+ games (I'm not playing a lot there lately).

As far as I understand the current rule simply prevents selling towers right before a race level (e.g. you send on 15 and sell your towers to "clog" after level 14). Imo this is a good starting point as it prevents the "full abuse" cases. This rule would force you to e.g. sell your towers after level 13 already which of course makes level 14 very risky for your team, so it's somewhat a gamble and I would imagine it backfires every now and then.

So I think the current rule isn't bad. Can it be better though? I'm not sure. Preventing selling towers to leak more all together doesn't seem right to me. A "you must have 50% of recommended value" rule is pretty much useless and also has an impact on some (fair) playstyles.

I can't really think of a good rule, but then again I barely play 1200+, so my opinion is mostly based on LIHL. While clogging still can give you an advantage on race levels, it isn't that extreme anymore with the current map and I believe it is within a reasonable limit as it also has quite some disadvantages (possibly weaker on previous levels, if the other team survives the game is most often lost etc.) and people will just have to find a way to counter this playstyle.

just make it so you can't sell more than half your max value. IE. if you end wave 10 with 1350, you can only sell up to 675*?* value and you are forbidden to go lower than you max value that you had. On wave 12 and you have 675 after selling, you cannot sell anymore after that since your max value was 1350.

Edit: after writing this, i find that it is still not the greatest solution nor the best written

I really dont understand this crying about unfairnes when you leak "only" 25 and enemy leaks 60 or whatever. Would be just crap to limit strategies/forcing people to build shit if shit is what they got.

and you still can clog and even leak more slowly by building just crap units, so I dont really understand what the fuzz is about. Leave the rules as they are. Or you can remove also that stupid rule about splitting only if you send dd. ^^

I don't play 1200+, however, I feel that selling units to make units leak faster during a send round,and, potentially "clog" the middle (as this version was to eradicate clog), it is an abuse of the map's vulnerability and should be banned imo. As far as the rule goes, I feel like re-instating the clog rule with an addendum about selling would be beneficial.

Do not sell towers in an attempt to clog the middle.
Clogging is not allowed.

I feel this should be judged case by case, if people are going yolo, one holder, etc.

Those two rules would suffice, more than likely.

Well, there are different point of views. What I noticed;

* Clog still exists in new version.

* Clog is nonetheless reduced.

* Suiciding / Clogging gives you disadvantages, too. (see Diablo_'s post)

As a result, we will go with the community's will. Added a poll which runs until October 11.

See first post of the thread.

the rules "Do not sell value to stall time and gain an advantage on a racing level." suggested here viewtopic.php?f=43&t=74915
was meant to prevent exactly this situations. it doesnt matter at which round you sell your towers as soon you get an advantage on a racing level by it it should be already banable.
you can clog with or without the 50% of the recommend value by massing "dead value" so this rule wouldn't be helpful at all in my opinion

you can clog with or with

Actually, no. Akitos is right, one could argue that you are allowed to sell your towers prior to the racing level according to that rule / suggestion.

Do not sell value to stall time and gain an advantage on a racing level.

nabo. wrote:Only concern for me is racing level. Other levels, hmmm not so much. Suiciding is valid strategy due to unbalanced randomized roll options.

Anyway, might just want to re-phrase that rule, then.

The rule implies you can sell earlier to gain the advantage later. Selling on 12/13 to race 15 is bannable but the current phrasing.

If the rule was to be you will only be banned if you sell on the racing level, the rule should read:

'Do not sell value on a racing level to stall time and gain an advantage.'

Will nonetheless be specified.

Selling value at any point in the game in order to stall time and gain advantage on a racing level is forbidden
?

Do note that this rule modification would be effective on all LTD Mega bots.

Rule will be clarified / edited in the Wiki to define selling prior to a racing level as forbidden as well.

Do not sell value to stall time and gain an advantage on a racing level.

Selling value at any point in the game in order to stall time and gain advantage on a racing level is forbidden.

Will be added to the Wiki on Saturday. (LTD Mega and 1200+)

Thanks for your input.
