[New rule about Gproxy] Abusing plug/unplug

Postby Quentin » Sun Aug 27, 2017 10:11 am

Hello,

I believe that there should be a rule to prevent players from abusing the Gproxy reconnection tool.

I've seen someone who was losing a game and had some afk on their team just plugging/unplugging his connexion. Since one guy was afk, the votekicks voted never passed. And he always reconnected before the end of the 3 minutes.

This could be easily abused to make others players leave by reconnecting for hours, without anyone being able to do anything.

So, I think that reconnecting more than 20 times in a single game should be against ENT rules and after > 15 minutes perma lagging mods should be able to kick them from the game if the votekick can't pass.

Best regards,
Quentin

It's already against the rules to abuse Gproxy. Exploiting vulnerabilities.

Hello Falenga,

I know that there is a rule that says "Do not purposely glitch or exploit the game.".
But to clarify the problem is that you cannot prove that someone is purposely doing it!

Even if someone reconnects a thousand time with Gproxy in the same game (and the game is going on for more than 1 month), it is still possible that he has a bad connexion and his internet provided has some issues... And you cannot ban him for that (unless he says in chat that he did it on purpose, which is unlikely to say the least).

In my game, we had won that dota game and we were pushing middle raxes. The guy was tiny and he reconnected more than 5 times with gproxy. I knew for sure without any doubt that he was doing it on purpose because he lagged for 2+ min and then he reconnected for 1 second and lagged again. But I could not ban him because he said nothing in chat and I had not proof that it was intentional. His team mate did not vote to kick him ...

I could ban no one at the end of the game!

We finally managed to kick him at the end of the day only because some players left the game and it required less players to kick and it eventually passed after more than 10 minutes and 6+ attempts ...

My suggestion is that if someone is genuinely having connexion issues, it does not matter if he is doing it on purpose or not, it does not matter if he abusing or not, it does not matter if he is malicious or legit, it should be prohibited to:
- reconnect more than 20 times with Gproxy in the same game.
- lag more than 15 consecutives minutes in the game and the mod should be able to use the kick command if the votekicks never passed.

With current rules it is impossible to enforce unless he writes it in the chat and you can have a proof that he did it on purpose.
It can be legitimate that some guy got weathers issues and permanently lag and reconnect.
I think that it should be allowed to kick them even so (if it is not glitch exploit).

I had the same issue with draw abuse: 2 guys left the dota game within 45 seconds, before picking a hero, and I was told that I could not ban them because they did not say in the chat that they abused the draw rule...

This rule is covering something that extremly rare and so far people just kicked such laggers anyway already. Ofc sometims you can have bad luck like in your case, but a rule wont change that a guy might be afk so the votekick cant pass.
You can always kick laggers who reconnect with gproxy, but its a vote. We wont create new rules just so admins can use their powers.
