The reason is due to the mechanics of lighting ball granting invulnerability you are unable to do anything to stop the caster aside from global silence (2min CD) Relocate is roughly 20 sec CD Its near impossible to counter baring having reaction speed of a bot. Its an abuse of a mechanic (invulnerability) that goes against how the skill is intended use (mana drain/mobility) players can sit at their fountain and keep poping up anywhere on the map every 20 seconds and go back to fountain fully healed. Its even worste than rearm furion teleport. No other skills provide invulnerability while allowing free casting. Players are even able to fountain kill due the the Invulnerable frame which is beyond broken. Every other "op" build has some form of counter be it dispel/aoe/hood/windwalk/blink but a skill with 0 cd has none. With normal lighting ball on its own you can "wait out" the caster as he will run out of MP and your team can finish him off however not when its combined with relocate .

other combos can be countered. Images->AoE Stuns/Magic Damage/Splash Rearm Omnislash -> Ghost Scepter 1 Hit -> Linkens(jinada damage)/Ghost Scepter/Windwalk/Bristle Back/Armor etc MC Zues -> Hoods and Linkens Wolf Form->Blink aftershock ->MKB/Range how do you counter a hero you cant not target that also replenishes their hp/mp ever 10 seconds? as it stands the only "counter" is the press them and hope you can keep them from farming but that isn't a real strategy.

Yes, I agree on this one 100%. This one should be the last combo to be banned, as it's the last really OP combo that's still standing. It's boring and requires no real skill. In other words, it's not even LOD. It's ridiculous and broken. Please consider it too well to ban it at last.

Chronosphere - Gives you 3+ seconds to attack/silence/nuke/stun

Multicast - Fblast hits 99% of people with ball because they aren't fast enough to dodge the animation. MC owns ball relo early

Ancient Seal - Silences. If he can't ball he will fall.

Dream Coil - Brings him back after relocate. Most likely with no mana

X-Marks - Brings him back after relocate. Most likely with no mana

Gank him - Most ball relos are mid. Gank him before he is lvl 6 and can just ball away. Hopefully your team has a disable

shackles - 5 second disable is more than enough to kill him. Make sure you let him know ball relo < shackles

Blink dagger - Combined with any disable lets you jump on him and use any amount of disable you have picked or bought. Hopefully you picked at least a stun.

Wards - Easy to get your silence/stun ready when you see him relocate. Yes, you have to buy silence.

Last word - Most ball relos have 1 disable. Nice 3 second silence for him to be silenced again by the orchids you should have bought. If he is all passive he shouldn't be killing anyone solo until late game

Deafening Blast - Will disable long enough to disable again. If he balled out of your deafening blast AOE he probably doesn't have enough mana left to kill you. The movement is also glitchy with blast so he won't be able to ball for a couple seconds after.

Diffusal blade - Gets rid of his ghost staff so you can dps him in the face while burning some sweet mana. If he also has repel, this says BYE FELICIA to repel and he sits there confused about how all these spells are hitting him whilst getting owned

Ghost staff - Most of his dmg is physical. If you can't survive just ball dmg you are doing something wrong

@Sadsack Basically, what @CheW and @Burnt are saying is if you can't counter ball relo, then you're either doing something wrong, you need to git gud, or you truly live up to your namesake.
All joke aside, you can pretty much counter a purty good number of these so-called "OP" combos. AFAIK the only combos that are banned are either legit glitches/exploits or being patched by the MA themselves.

The reason we got Rearm Phant dealt with was because the map creators disallowed the build to stack in the new map 6.85j2 for it being too IMBA.
LoD is meant to have IMBA builds and there's times where the creators say "yep to op, gotta get rid of it". We as well can get rid of it by banning it since we can not host the new LoD maps in WC3 due to its patch 1.28.
If you look at what Chew says, he points out many possible counters to relocate ball lightning. Way more counters than Rearm, Phant or X Mark/TP, rearm. (glimpse from disruptor is also a really good counter)
Anyways I'm just trying to cover all basis. My quote stays the same and therefore will also be my statement for this topic. @SadSack
