Copy / Paste Suggestion

Each time I want to enter a game, I usually copy paste the game name from the website lobby into the war3 one, but sometimes when I highlight it, the war3 engine gives me some sort of error which disconnects me from the server, at which point I'm forced to wait for like 10-15 minutes before logging in back. Also, when trying to copy the whole game name from the website lobby, it doesn't really highlight the whole thing (I'm not sure if this is caused by a browser or it's just the way it is).

What do you think about putting some kind of plugin which would enable you to copy the game name whilst just pressing on it, instead of highlighting it? Dunno about anyone else, but it's sort of a hassle for me.

Thanks

I don't know about the first problem

But I also have the same frustrating issue with being unable to actually highlight the gn from the games page (if that is indeed what you mean)

I thought it was just a problem with my browser

But for the life of me I simply can NOT manage to highlight the game name, the cursor just goes haywire and starts adding or subtracting more shit from outside the field of characters I precisely try highlighting

It was so annoying I just gave up

What I do is just keep a notepad .txt file on my desktop with given game name formula(s) for whichever games I'm playing

Then I just do the two single clicks (not double click) on the file name and copy it from there before re-starting wc3/gproxy/whatever

obloquy,

Good to hear that I'm not alone in this lol, but yeah, keeping text files isn't the most EFFICIENT way of getting into the game. I mean as soon as you open up the website lobby list, you'll notice, for example, a really good game scenario (balanced team in Dota for instance), and you wanna get into it asap, but the game name is too long, and you can make a mistake while typing it into the search box, so in order to save time to get into that game, it would be pretty helpful if all you had to do was to click on the gn

There are three ways you can search and enter a game:

1) find the game on the list(impossible with bots refreshing)

2) whisper clan.enterprise bot and get gamename (ex. /w clan.enterprise !g ap us), hen type the gamename (ex. [ent] dota ap us/ca #3), ctrl+c to copy, ctrl+v to paste it on ur game search bar to enter the game.

3) go on entgaming.net game list, (***IMPORTANT*** DO NOT highlight and copy the txt), press the copy button on the game list page and paste it on wc3 game search.

Did you even bother reading what I wrote? If I wanted to know how to enter a game, I would go to a fucking support section...

Exactly, you are not reading. I am not sure if this is the cause for your reason, but when people simply highlight text, copy, and paste on wc3, you may copy contents that are not exactly text you wanted to copy. Therefore, wc3 getting an error and booting you out. So, i suggested NOT HIGHLIGHTING and using the copy button and paste it or simply try the other 2 methods stated above. The reason u cannot log in temporary from bnet is because of what you did ^^

Ah I see what you mean, excuse my dumbness on this one :)

The weird thing is - when I right click the game I want to enter, it doesn't show me the "copy" option. So the only way I can copy stuff is either through highlighting or your methods

edit: heh okay you posted just before I finished mine.

The more I test it the simpler it seems...just click it once and that's it. The click-n-drag highlight method with the cursor like "normal" clearly doesn't work but given the clipboard icon copier thingy that really seems a hell of a convenience anyway :)

He's right. I had stopped trying to use that function since it seemed like a few times it wouldn't actually copy anything, and I hadn't bothered with it in weeks. But after testing now a dozen+ tries it worked every time, so maybe I was just not clicking the right spot and being rushed/sloppy in the past when I thought it wasn't doing it.

Try it again and follow the instructions he provided: don't actually highlight with your cursor at all; simply click the little clipboard icon once. Although it may look like it's not doing anything, it does indeed copy the game name perfectly to your clipboard, at which point you can then just paste as usual.

I have a really screwed up browser setup in regards to things turned off or disabled or requiring activation before functioning, but if it works for my setup it should for yours.

As nabo. said, use the copy function next to the game name/slots.
Other than that I absolutely have no problem highlighting and copying the gamenames manually. I just have to quickly click 3 times on the gamename and the whole name is highlighted (double click for 1 word, tribble clicking for whole name). Maybe that also helps you.

What about the copy button that is already there?

The copy button doesnt work for everyone, I know my housemate couldn't get it to work even with the plugin or whatever, and I prefer not to have plugin's running in my background processes so I don't use it either. Its probably a small number of people due to some simple config discrepancy, so not worth making a new one.

But @westfield, easiest almost foolproof way of doing the copy and paste highlighting method is to click the game u want a bunch of times (sometimes it like readjusts and moves). If it doesnt move usually ur good to go. If it does keep moving refresh the page. If you have the option to stop running scripts I believe that will stop it from sliding around. Now, once you've got the name relatively still hold down control and place your cursor tip right at the top of the last number or letter in the game title, or a tad over it. Slightly slide your mouse left (highlighting it reverse) and tap c.

I copy tons and tons of games only using this technique and I haven't had an incorrect copy in over a week. Attempting to highlight it from left to right or while it is sliding commonly results in the boot from bnet

I've never had the copy button fail. What are you talking about with plugins? I didn't have to install a plugin for the copy button to work? The map cfg of a map should have nothing to do with.

What browser are you using that it doesn't work on. Never had an issue with Chrome.
