When a votekick happens either;
1) It is legit - votekickee deserves a ban for game ruining
2) It's not legit - voters deserve a ban (less frequent I'm sure and probably much less significant)

I've seen many people get votekicked and never get a ban. It seems like a loophole that can be easily fixed by requiring game moderators to look at games where any votekick occurred and assign an appropriate ban. Or look quickly at those people who are repeatedly getting votekicked and ban if required.

Not sure if this is true now, but at least in the past, we don't ban (unless it's an exceptional case, e.g. someone votekicking non-lagger during lag screen to trick players into kicking) if the votekick doesn't go through.

Also speaking of lagger, many votekicks pass to kick the lagger, which doesn't need special review.

Sure, that makes sense in the case of laggers, but I don't remember even one game this year where we votekicked someone for lagging. However, everyone who intentionally feeds or breaks some other major rule will usually get a votekick if it is blatant. Those people just get to keep playing because no one files a ban request.

That's way in the past, people get banned for votekicks that don't pass.

@Straya Right now you only get banned for breaking rules, not votekicks that don't pass or those that do.

So why dont you guys report the player after the game, if you voted to kick him? If you want to play with nice teammates, which do not break any rules, then you need to help us. Reporting them will cost you around 1 to 2 mins, while reviewing EVERY game with a votekick (a whole bunch of games) and then apply an extra ban here and there would cost a lot of time.

I personally do report when required, but most people will not. It would reduce time to focus on people who repeatedly get votekicked.

We will not be checking every game that has votekicks.

Some vks are legit; some vks are not. Some pass; some dont.
Some people who get votekicked may deserve a further ban. But, that is something that the users themselves should decide and report if believe necessary.

The purpose of vk is to kick someone out of the game because they are ruining the game one way or another and to reduce/minimize further negative impact to the game. Some games are recoverable while others are hard to come back.

From what I know, those who get vked dont get any autobans. May be these players do deserve a regular autoban if they get vked though.

Also, it may take much less time than we think if we just target replays of people who get repeatedly vk'd - the higher the vk # threshold - the less # of targets. That way the people who are consistently voted by the community as a game ruiner could be investigated.

I think it would eliminate these guys that get away because the game is a win at the end or people are just too lazy to report. Also, it would deter people from multiple vk'able offenses that might otherwise result in many ruined games and ultimately will help to better the gaming experience.

I told you, we will not be checking vk games unless reported. Watching replays take quite a bit of time, so no, we wont be watching all those vk games. People can report and specify what was wrong and report if deem necessary.

@nabo. Yes, I think you are right and that a vk autoban is sufficient and probably most efficient.

Votekick autoban is a horrible idea. Suppose somebody gets votekicked unfairly or accidentally... They're now temp banned? IMHO this just makes it easier to troll people. Temp bans are scarcely reversed. Trolls roll their IP's.

If players gamble to get a one year ban for a 2 hour autoban, then it is their choice.

Players get votekicked for violating a rule. The real punishment will be enforced by the staff and not by the bot. Autobanning players would just increase their overall ban duration.
