Eliminate smurfing? Let's begin by posting ban requests on those smurfers!

Using a smurf account is dodging the ELO system - which is aimed at making fairer matchmaking is it not?

Sounds like it should be an offence to me?

what I was suggesting is like ip related ELO, lol, similar to ban. ofc not ban smurfs, too difficult and not intending to harm most of the time.

I've suggested an IP elo but then u gotta remember that some ppl play with friends/ family on same IP or if u are in an internet cafe too many variables for that.

lol, yea. I don't know many people who play at internet cafe, and friends/family can sign up on site and show that they have 2 acc from same ip, then there will be actually balanced ELO instead of people who got smurfed up.

First of all, a IP ELO System is a definite no from me. I have a teaming account and a pubbing account in which I test heroes, builds, ecct.

I am however in favor of making it harder to make smurfing accounts by verifying through your e-mail, much in the same way as registering for the forums. It would still be abused, sure; but a little more of a hassle to do it.

The down side to this idea is; would it actually be a viable option with new people wanting to play on ENT? Would it make it too much of a hassle to have a non-ladder set of games and a ladder set of games?

I personally would keep things the way they are (if I ran ENT) and deal with it. I'd prioritize Map Hacker's being dealt with over smurfers any day.

First off, I admittedly have a number of account so please don't berate me for my post (yes, you may call them "smurfs" they are admittedly such). You can call me a "stacker" all you want but I still play public games solo on my main account so please don't start crying or yelling. I'm only posting to hopefully help the readers of this topic.

If you want to ensure fair game play there are a number of ways to do such:

1. Utilize the website, if u see the other team has a 1900 elo player with 2 players 10-0, you can leave the game - this is an obvious stack.
2. Join HR games if you really want fair play. Anyone who knows the HR systems knows that we do not tolerate Merc switches and we !draw the game to legitimate early DCs. It also A-Bal. You cannot get more fair than this. Furthermore, check out the ELO rankings for HR. There is no stacking and no huge gaps. No one is 90% wins in HR. It's a better system but the LTD community only asks that you come with a good knowledge of the game and understand team play enough to enjoy it.
3. Join the public A-Bal games. That's what they are there for.

As far as IP based elo. Never going to happen. Don't forget that certain ISPs will change individuals IP addresses based on a "contract term". This will be awful for a few people and they should not have to deal with such a hassle.

IMO - there is no fool proof system to ensure a fair ELO system or fair play. Hence why the A-Bal and HR systems are in place and why Clan ENT offers ban requests. You can also make the argument that a player who has 2 jobs will never get a chance at high ELO while a player who plays 14 hours per day will always be on top. There is just as much of a "grind" element to the ELO system as there is a "stacking" element. Join HR, join tournaments, play in pre-made games. Public games are public and there will always be flaws.

I don't "dodge" both off principle and the detested wait of cowardice that your ELO whoring resulted in. A-BAL is crashed by smurfs also, and HR nvr plays. Even HR doesn't !draw always though, even when someone on team is throwing game.

I don't care about stacking. I enjoy vsing stacked teams. I am annoyed when all stackers are smurfs, going 20-0 and all mercing or remaking acc on different server and super low ELO still (like 1010-1100)

Well, ABAL games now need a few games played (I think 10, or maybe 15) before you can join it.
