Hey all,

there is a new game coming up, called "Legion TD 2"!
It will be a standaloneversion of the LTD-mod and is brought to us by Lisk (the man who made the first version of LTD until LTD v1.6) and his team.
For more information about the game, browse
the website: http://beta.legiontd2.com/
the forum: http://legiontd2.com/community/
or send me a pm ;)

The game will be freetoplay and Lisk do not want to sell it to a big publisher or investor, so he needs the help of the community :)
The kickstarter campaign for LTD 2 started yesterday, and all help is much appreciated!

I was very excited hearing about it when this came out, but as i was reading more about it became clear this was gonna be a pay2win game. A business model i do not support in games unfortunately. I would rather he tagged a price on it to go, instead the p2w model they intended to follow.

Pls correct me if this has changed, last time i checked that was a couple of years ago.

@hellraiser guess you missunderstood whatever you read :D it gonna be like league of legend or dota you can just buy different models and maybe exp boost which has no impact on the gameplay at all. the races etc you can unlock by playing as well so you dont get any advantage which is the definition of a pay2win :P

Yes, @broud3r is totaly right.
There will be no impact to the game by any "real money investments". You will only be able to lvl-up faster (play ranked faster) or buy new legions (builders), but you can achieve all this by grinding. Besides that you can buy smart models or textures, but these wont have impact to the game, besides you look fancy ;)
It will be a competitive game open for all!

As far i know there are 4 starting builders and you have to unlock the others by donating or grinding it, though i got some questions.

1) Whats the max level? Ive only read that with level 20 you can play ranked, and can invest it in a special tech tree

2) Do you have to respec every time before a match or how does it work?

3) Can you reroll at the master-mind mode (which is similar to prophet) and is that depending how many builders you have unlocked (for example that you can only get towers from the builders you have already unlocked)?

So it's not ready to play yet from what I read?

Also donors get to unlock builders faster and rank up, doesn't that already defeat the purpose of balancing (no advantage to donors in gameplay etc)?

Hey HELLRAlSER! Don't worry - Legion TD 2 is not pay to win. You can upgrade cosmetic things with money, but only if you want to. The game is free-to-play. :D

On a personal note, I ask for your trust as the creators of Legion TD, lifelong gamers, and people who have worked day and night on this for the past 2 years without being paid a dime, that we're trying to make an amazing game. I hate pay-to-win games.

This is absolutely right. Builders are meant to be "grinded," but it's only going to be 10 wins per builder, so it's not actually too bad. Here are our reasons for this:

Analysis
- For beginners unfamiliar with the game, having all legions available at the start would be overwhelming. Unlocking legions gradually encourages players to learn legions one at a time before moving onto others. This is the natural way to learn the game.
- For experienced players, the advantage is still a statistically minor one given that different legions will be carefully balanced. Furthermore, experienced players should be able to easily rack up 10 wins.
- In *small* doses, having content that needs to be unlocked or purchased makes for a healthier community. It discourages people from making smurfs and troll accounts because making alternate accounts means they'll have to unlock everything again.
- Unlocking things just feels good. Many League of Legends players, after they hit level 30, enjoy the game less because they no longer gain experience to unlock new things.

We are still working out the details of this. We want to have a leveling up system to prevent complete beginners from jumping into ranked/the competitive environment. Nothing decided on the other things yet. We'd love your input!

It will be ready to play this year! And sorry, can you clarify your second question?

Donors get earlier access to (all) races and maps/ladder, making them having the advantage of testing and familiarizing themselves with all the different features. This will be a big advantage if the donor is an experienced player.

Please make a shitton of archievments :D
I LOVE collecting such stuff. One week when i was ill i shot 10000 people in the head in call of duty with shitty weapons to gain the fancy titles xD

For me this keeps up the fun a lot and when ou dont know what to do you can collect stupid crap. Sounds silly but i like it ^^

To clarify, Aqua tier+ donors get early-access to the game through the closed beta, among other things! Yes, admittedly, this does give those players an advantage at the start because they are able to familiarize themselves with the game, but that is just the nature of playing a game earlier than someone else. We believe that anyone that joins Legion TD 2 later will still be able learn the game quickly. With a little time, the most skilled/dedicated players will rise to the top. :)

This isn't silly at all. I'm the same way! We are planning on having rank/rating that is based on skill as well as tons of achievements, some even for just how much you have played. It's sort of like the icons from Warcraft 3 - they were SO cool and all they were based on was number of ladder wins. 8-) And other creative achievements as well, to be determined!

I understand that all beta testers for any game gets to know the game better and it is natural, but the fact that you can "buy" access throws me off a bit. I won't be a hard grinder when it comes out so probably just a question and that's all.

@RadiantCrystal I think 10 wins to unlock a legion is still doable even if you aren't a "hard grinder." :)

@Lisk no doubt on that, I'm an old legion player haha think the first legion map I played was v1.31b? or something like that. good to see legion going to step up.

@broud3r @Jules I stand corrected.

But to be clear LOL and Dota2 dont have the same business model. LOL unlocks have impact on the game, Dota2 just sells skins. Am more in favour of the latter.

Am aware that, am not the target demographic since i have time to play 1 or 2 tops games a day, making just unlocking a builder almost a monthly "project". And then there are "specs", that would require months too. I don't complain since i can donate, but what about other that can't donate that much and they dont have a day of free time.

Anw am just expressing some concerns, while am getting excited about it ;)

Yeah, I definitely appreciate you expressing your concerns. We're still making calls on this, but I hope to be able to model things closer to Dota 2. I like the idea of it being mostly cosmetic unlocks, but I personally think some content unlocking is fun. You're right that it will definitely vary depending on the person, and it's impossible to make everyone 110% happy. ;)

I am glad you are getting excited and hope you still enjoy the game. Look forward to playing with you!
