Perhaps he was afk?

There are no rules saying what mode has to be played.

Red has the choice for modes.

Unless after u asked "what mode?" and he gave u a reply with a specific mode beforehand, then changing the mode without consent...no reason to ban him for w/e mode he chooses.

Anyhow, the game doesnt seem ruined + you won the game.

Insufficient reason to ban.
