incorrected ban denial

Postby maydayfan » Thu Mar 27, 2014 5:03 pm

I feel like I have been denied a ban that should have been a ban. This is the link to the topic I am talking about. I rewatched the replay to verify my facts. For the last ATLEAST 3 mins of the last minutes of the game, at least 3 of the players should have been banned. I understand the admin feels like there wasn't enough fountain farming going on, but when the initial fountain farming starting the overall score was 1-31. dragons13ane's have 10 kills, bootsoftango had 3 kills, happynewyear. had 8 kills, foxxer had 2 kills, and watzsup had 8 kills, at the end of the game the score was 2-53. First two players mentioned kept the same amount of kills. the last 3 players EACH increased their score by AT least 6 kills (bootsoftango and happynewyear.) and one player even increase his kills by 10. In a waiting for at least 3 mins to pass with fountain farming going on, 22 kills does seem to be an excessive fountain farming correct me if I am wrong. I would like a second opinion on this play.

My second question for future reference is what number is considered to be an excessive amount of fountain farming?

You can fountain farm as much as you want as long as you don't break a total of 3 minutes.

There are many factors which have to be considered, for example, if you attacked the heroes or not, etc.

That's not the issue, the ban admin nabo. stated in the link I posted "They certainly did fountain farm. But, it was not excessive to warrant a ban.

Denied." Is 22 kills not excessive? I can understand like 2-3 kills but repeated sitting near fountain so as soon as heroes revive they die again or can't attempt to even escape?

You are overrating the word 'excessive'. The rule is defined by the duration and not by the kills. At least that's how it was handled in the past and for similar cases.

Then we are going in a circle, because if it is defined as a duration and not by the kills, then why was this fountain farm denied? It clearly was indeed a fountain farm and was stated by the ban admin nabo. Yet he posted it wasn't excessive enough. So if the duration was there, and that's what it's based off, why wasn't it approved? Obviously was pretty excessive too because you gotta think 22 kills in a little over 3 mins is a lot if you think about 5 players reviving once every 30 secs or so, that's the whole team 4 times in 2 mins. And they didn't sit there the whole 3 mins it just repeatedly happened for more then 3 mins.

Haven't processed the case nor watched it, so @nabo. shall comment on it.

If you kill a hero at the fountain, then obviously it is "fountain farming" but not enough to be considered "excessive FF" which is defined by the duration at ENT. Same for flaming: If players insult you, it is (normal) flaming but might not be enough to be considered ban-worthy by ENT.

If my memory serves me right, the fountain farm wasnt excessive.

You talk about kills, but there are also many ways to avoid from getting killed. Fountain farming is common in lol and dota2. Logically it should be easier to fight back at your own base + your team can always !ff. I will only ban fountain farming cases if it looks like they r stalling the game TOO long based on the minimum 3 min mark.

It is true that my standards for fountain farming could be more flexible than another mod's standard.
I believe fountain scaring(holding enemy team at fountain) is a legitimate strategy and I do not consider cases where people come out of fountain to try and push opposing heros from fountain farming to be excessive.

Anyway, I believe the time was close to 3 min give or take.
One brq I banned the watzsup guy because he was diving into farm with BT and the other which you presented here...I did not ban.

I will rewatch the replay and confirm my evaluation when I get home.
