Questions

Postby Blodvold » Mon May 12, 2014 7:48 pm

Dont know where to ask this, so here it is.
Was playing a game today and red picked AP mode. I protested, of course, and rallied for !draw. Which was widely accepted. All but one voted for a draw and that one was red. I then tried telling him that he was being an ass, but he ignored me because he wanted to play merc (dude had like 800played games and still went ap and merc WOW)
I then tried to get him kicked so the rest of us could draw. He then threatened to get me and the ones wanting to kick him banned.

So my questions are;
1. Am I in the wrong here for trying to kick him?
2. What should one do in this situation? Not the first time this has happened (different game, different people)
3. Any chance of lowering the limit so the majority can get their way?

1) Yes, you were in the wrong. Picking -ap and Merc isn't against the rules.
2) Accept it and play the game :p If it's such a big deal for you, ask red about the mode before the game starts or take red slot yourself.
3) Would be a bad idea imo.

the problem was not -ap and merc, but rather that seven out of eight people wanted to draw. But one didnt. How is that fair?

why doesn't he have the right to play for rank in a mode of his choice? also, why did they want to draw? if not because the mode, or some problem, there is no issue...

Of course he has the right to choose the game mode of his liking and play whichever way he wants to.

AP is a controversial game mode on ENT server, after playing around 300 games I have learned that people dont like this mode and try their best to stay away from it. The reason people wanted to draw was because of game mode, nobody but red wanted to play this mode. He did not tell about his intentions. I came in rather late and didnt even think about asking what mode. One did ask, but did not get response before game started. Almost every game I play is -hpgmcb. And i would say that hpgmcb is the unoffical standard on both ENT legion td mega bots. Not that means much other than I expect that to be the game mode and most people do expect that in my experience. There is always some drama when the game is not HPGMCB PROPHET.

But the problem as i see it is this; When seven of the eight people dont want to play, and they all want to leave, but dont want to be banned. Seven people voted to draw before lvl 1 started, 7. So why should they be forced to? Why should this one person be allowed to drag seven people through a game they dont want to play?
Personally I try to post the game mode and builder when all seats are taken. In my opinion this should be a rule for two reasons.
1. Everybody then will now what the game mode is going to be and can leave if the want.
2. This forces red to be in the game and not alt+tabbed or doing whatever. Nothing worse than red going afk.

uhm doesn't it only take 7 people to draw a game or am I mistaken? if not it should be changed - but I'm quite sure it only takes 7/8 people to draw a game
can we get a game moderator to confirm this - if it takes all 8 it should be changed as 7 peoples wishes should be more worth than 1's wishes IMO

I also think it requires 7 votes only, not sure tho.

Hmm.. played a game now and one left, a draw was called upon and it needed 6/7 votes to pass. So 7/8 is probably what is needed in a full game. So maybe all my ranting is uncalled for :(
(But i did get the impression everyone wanted the game to !draw and only one didnt. In light of this uncertain fact, that means there was this one guy who just watched it all play out and didnt utter a word for or against. That is even worse imo.)

Still i think everyone should say what kind of mods they are planning on implementing in the game. And i think it should be a rule.

well well, have to play some more, this game is to darn fun to let issues like this stand in the way.

If you want something to be changed post in the suggestions section.

I'll touch on to what you're saying is that drawing is a completely optional function, if somebody doesn't want to draw. Tough luck.

I am positive it doesn't take 7 to pass. I have had games drawn on me without drawing.

You're positive it doesn't take 7? Your 'proof' doesn't really make sense.

I'll give you a hint: someone left his game, leaving 7 players in the game, in his latest post. This being the case, 6/7 is a lower ratio then 7/8, and obviously his scenario is missing the vote count...

Just think Supersexyy thought you ment in a full game hehe but never the less I think we can agree that it takes maximum players minus one to draw the game and since the orginal poster thought it took 8/8 and as beep has linked a place to post a change suggestion in case Blodvold wants to change it I don't think there is any reason to keep this thread going as I imagine you two could start going back and forward about how to express oneself and what you ment and what not

Its either 7 or 6, def doesn't take all 8.

There are lots of game modes and they are all stupid and more fun in their own ways, I do understand preferring some to other though.

That being said its as easy as asking red before it starts, if you get no answer or don't like the answer go next game. As you said, especially on the 4v4 bot, 90% of the time it will be -hpgmcb so its not like you'll have to wait an hour to play the mode you want, joining the very next game should do it ;)
