Colour name spoof

Have you guys (admins) ever thought about giving away (Spoof , Colour Names).

Just a thought, They do it on dota-void sometimes if you win a tourny etc.. or some of their comp's, and you have your spoof name for a month or until the next tourny etc... Im not to sure how they do it, But if you get it then you still use you same Warcraft 3 account and itll look the same on every server except ENT for example.

Like my name is Nz.Death but i might want it to be Death and Blue. Only whislt playing on ENT. I think there was a limit of 5 characters in a spoof name though.

Just an idea that some people might like.

There is a limit of 5 characters because wc3 has a limit of I think 15 characters and a color is 10 characters before you name iirc.

Not sure how this would work on battle.net for the bot to physically change your username.

Something that could be done though possibly is your name on the forum would get a color for 2 weeks - 1 month or w/e.

I might ask the void admins if they would possibly share with me the codes etc on how they did it, Ill come back to you in afew mins with some screen shots of what i mean.

The give some users coloured names only whislt they play on the void bot, almost like a patch or something , Im not 100% how these things work, Im a builder not an it guy lol.

As you can see in these screen shots, Their player names when playing on a dota-void bot is the under 5 character name and coloured, But you also see just under that their Battle.net name and what realm.

Maybe that will help in what im trying to explain, And show that it is possible to do.

I think in some maps, it will cause desync if the player other people see for you is different from the name you see for yourself. But this is an interesting idea.

yes that is true, Im not 100% sure if you see your name as normal or as spoofed. ill go to the dota-void forums and have more of a talk with them.

Would you like me to ask the dota void admins and see if they could help us with this idea?

I think it would just add a wee bit extra to ENT (it doesnt need it though). But on void it was always fun and made alot more people join tournys etc because you would get a FREE reward of a coloured spoof name on the server for a fixed amount of time. And also in game it was always a topic starter and just a new twist.

Cool, If it works then will you think of a way to give out the names and a period of time that they users have them for etc... The void admins still havent got back to me but have you worked out you own way of doing it?

Doing it is a very minor change, I'm still not sure if it will cause desyncs in some maps that use the name.

What if it was just run with dota? or will that not be fair on the other players?

Well the desync would happen as soon as the game loads most likely, so the way to test it would be give a couple people the colored name and send them into a bunch of games (probably bot admins would be a good choice since they could just enter the game, start it alone, see if they desync and then end the game) Though you would need a second person in the game too that is regular named so that there is someone to desync from.

(I would be willing to test if uakf.b if you want, but not till after finals (done this Wednesday night))

Dota-void? Hmm you must have a client like their customers, also you need to test it first not sure if migh't work for sure.
