First of all let me state my view
As I see it autoban should prevent people from leaving or atleast give them a very bad feeling when they do it
Now I've been playing for a while now and I play more games with leavers than games without leavers and if you end up 3v4 and the others aren't totally retarded you will end up loosing no matter what you do
So my point is that people are currently not regretting leaving as the ban is minor - and my suggestion is to raise the autoban duration
Basicly I want people to stop leaving which should give a better gaming experience for all and should be the point of autoban
If there is a legal matter that stops this from happening please state what makes this impossible
if you simply dissagree please state your opinion

Most people don't care about leaving because they know they will either not be banned at all or only for a few hours (if they aren't doing it all the time). Almost every leave should be noticeably punished imo (a few hours for almost-never-leavers, 1-2 days for sometimes-leavers and some to many days for regular-leavers).

Re: Increase autoban
I thought the autoban length was based on stay rate. Is it not? I'm guessing since you've made this thread then the ban length of people with a 60% rate is only 1-2 days, which you consider insufficient. At the moment, all you've suggested is for the autoban length to be increased. Do you think leavers of all stay rates should be banned? Or is it only the ones with a certain percentage?

Re: Increase autoban
I'm glad you brought it up - I totally forgot to talk about that
Yes I do think autoban should be increased for all no matter what stay percentage you have - I would even go so far saying that stay percentage should not affect how long you are banned but a standard autoban for leaving and the amount of time you have left within the last week or two (6 hours, 12 hours, 18, 24 and so on)
It might be a bit tough but as I see it there are too many leavers with no regrets
I am not saying that these numbers or the way it's done is THE solution but I just want to make leaving a hard choise

Re: Increase autoban
@Krumme
I do not think there is a problem with our autoban. It is quite fair. It bans people by their stay rate, ban frequency(recent number of autobans), and number of games played at ENT. Ban lengths differs from few minutes to many days.
Some people get the benefit of the doubt since their "average" stay rate is very high and some others get heavily punished because they experience disconnections or leave games regularly.
Your problem is with the people getting the "benefit of the doubt" or short ban length due to their general high stay rate.
I believe the trigger of you suggesting a generally longer autoban is due to certain cases where you believe people should receive a separate ban apart from autoban and a generally longer ban (ban request-able), since there are some who intentionally leave, so his team may win. If I am correct, you should elaborate.
Instead of saying in general that autoban should be longer, explain how the calculations should be and why it is a better system compared to the one now.
(I do not know the exact calculations on how the autoban works, you can ask @uakf.b for that).

Re: Increase autoban
Yes I know that you Forum Moderators sees the autoban like that
No you are not correct - I'm assuming you talk regarding leave before lvl 31 with merc? and that is not my point
my point is that if everyone have like 5 "free" leaves out of 100 games (leaves with 1 hours ban) and lets say everyone leaves from time to time because... well they CAN... then there will be a leaver in each and ever game
I want autoban to have a harder punishment from the beginning
Like first leave and it's 6 hours ban then 12, 24 etc. (again not the point of my suggestion as I think YOU should do the excact numbers and math) but having a hard punishment for leaving
Personally I close to never leave (96% stay) and I know that all those who dont ragequit or leave in any other way because the game doesn't go their way, they have a high stay rate
Personally I would prefer being banned for 6 hours for 1 leave if that ment that the amount of leavers would drop with 30% or such
Your argument would then be "it wouldn't be fair to ban people for 6 hours for leaving once ever 200 games" but my argument is that if you only leave/dc so rarely it wont affect you that much but those who leave more regurarely will feel the pain and stop leaving from time to time
Everything beneath 90% stay rate is IMO too much and I despite people that don't care enough to stay in the game
If you don't care enough you wont mind having a harder ban IMO

Re: Increase autoban
@Krumme
Everyone does get a ban, but just that the duration is different.
I do understand that some high stay rate people leave games simply because they "can" due to the expected low risk/punishment.
You'll have to wait for uakf.b to adjust autoban if he wants to.

Re: Increase autoban
Hi,
My stay rate is 99.65xxxxx or something close; so I agree with what Krumme is trying to install.
I would suggest that you differentiate between the types of leave. From what I can work out, autobanexx works on total disconnects (internet) & intentional (esc - quit)
Intentional should carry a higher % time ban - as that is user choice. (Perhaps this is already in play?) Disconnects should stay the same - as everyone gets hit by them.
So if you took both as a whole;
Weight intentional to circa 65% & Weight disconnect to 35%
That should then increase the pain for the intentionals - while somewhat reducing disconnects pain (should not be a high % per individual user)
Could you take say the bottom 10 people on autoban and see what data it gives; ie what is the root cause on their low stay % That would help here?

Re: Increase autoban
What needs to happen is that mods should not be lifting 9 out of 10 autobans and checking all akas when a name is banned which I seriously doubt happens.

Re: Increase autoban
Well if a person is willing to take the time to register an account on the forum then they should be given an unban right? It's not really feasible to check every single alias because with the way that dynamic IP works a lot different people could theoretically be connected to another alias through IP. I know I may not be making this clear to you but this is a very hard concept to explain but just trust me when I say that checking every single IP isn't a viable option.

Re: Increase autoban
Alias checking is no problem at all. Mods are trained to do a certain procedure to ensure the unbans are legit and fair.
What people keep forgetting is, that we at ENT, dont want to ban users for the eternity but to teach them a lesson.
Should a user feel the need to brake the rules twice, twice the ban duration will be applied - that's what we've a ban history and an administrative procedure for.

Re: Increase autoban
I totally agree art)y but when I play public games I rarely play a game without atleast 1 leaver and that makes me think that people do NOT learn a lesson and that is why I want to increase the autoban
Maybe that will bring more people to the ban appeal but as I want the best experience for the players I think this is worth it if that stops just 10% of the leavers
I still don't see a legit reason to leave which should not be punished - sure your internet can crash but if that happens on a regular basis maybe you shouldn't be playing on this bot

Re: Increase autoban
I agree with aRt)Y here but there also do seem to be cases where someone leaves at a very critical time on purpose and you know that they will only get a very short ban... I mean it kinda sucks when you know that they basically just Ruined the Game but are only going to be banned for about 2 hours. I don't see a solution to fixing this issue though, keeping the current autoban system and just looking over the numbers involved seems like the best way to me.

Re: Increase autoban
I think there's no reason to punish so heavily. Leaving isn't a terrible offense, and having people stay until the end of the game is often more detrimental if they have other issues/aren't in the game anymore.
