Dota connection tricks?

Is there any way to improve my connection on dota games - OTHER than the obvious upgrade internet connection blah blah

i run off a dongle and manage to play all games fine, even stream videos NP but for some reason playing dota it's just unplayable due to spikes? Does anyone have any suggestions. I know there's the proxy things but are they only for reconnecting and what not?

Not possible to use a wired connection? Huge difference usually.

Well you may be in luck, unless you're willing to invest a little. The new generation of wireless is call wireless AC. The next jump from wireless-N. If you can get a wireless AC router and a AC dongle then you'll definitely will see a huge improvement. I have the RT-AC68U_Wireless-AC1900 and love it. I LUB AC

or if you can't use your Ethernet port on your laptop because it's broken you can always buy a USB to Ethernet converter, which uses your USB port of data transfer. Also, it's cheap not much to invest.
