It would be cool if those rocks would be like trees and they died after 1000~ lumber had been harvested from them.

I dont know if your still doing terrain changes if not let me know just throwing some ideas out there, middle top was always a pretty boring/bad base at least to me this one is different and different is good in my book it allows towers on two different levels while decent walling capacity and much area for buildings maybe remove trees at bottom so theyre nukeable

Terrain CPR

Postby idtitan » Tue Oct 27, 2015 11:46 am

Trying to fuse some old school concepts in the terrain in the new map. I recall this being an epic base for Morphling, allowing enough space for the non-Champion workers.

I'd like to see it reborn I think the alterations are simple enough that it doesn't take anything away from the existing terrain, and also adds another "Hidden" base option for those who like to build outside the box.

Fun Fact: This was a terrain concept and base design before "Euro" had a lumber area. Which made "Euro" predominately a Goblin base.

For a reference here is map v2.8.3 (See attachments)
FYI you'll have to add the map into Your wc3 folder --> Maps ---> Downloads.

@Neco

Yo Rory this was what we were talking about some time ago. Also cool map editing tool.

P.S. If anyone knows a way to view old wc3 replays I've got a saved replay of this base against Granite max Lv! from 09

Cheers

Any terrain change is a good terrain change. Current terrain is more dull than the 309d terrain. Fuck the map up with terrain changes imho.

After some peer review, I agree that instead of cages it should be shallow water, allowing the titan to creep up and nuke/ give more space from the base to the north.

My idea for a base

Worked with a couple others @Fossurious, @Neco, @ripdog, @Crustcheese to make it a little less over powered, more balanced, have less error spots and sort of work with functionality to make a doable base.

This is on the far left side just above the db/lumber area in mid left.

I named it Mountain Base

Sadly i lost the file. Tried to save it and it made the editor crash. Hopefully Neco will be able to help me re create this perfectly.

There seems to be a trend of small lumber areas. With the meta switching towards making duo/trio basing essential for a base to hold it is strange that so many bases lack proper lumber space. It is especially strange when people whom has large impact on the game says that teamwork is a must to win builder games but the lumber areas seem to speak different from them.

I'd suggest for that base to move the ramp one square to the right and fill in the empty space left behind with high ground. Most importantly though, remake of the lumber area to fit in more harvester spots and some food sources. Other than that it looks good I guess, the current base is decent already but its problem is its difficult structure placement.

I think there might be too many trees between the entrance ramp and the top wing. It feels like range might be a problem for every other builder than Makrura.
Also just the sheer amount of room for towers seems pretty insane.

Miukii has inspired me to attempt an edit on one of my most hated bases.

The base under the river base. The edit I made may have some issues, not sure if rewalling would be too easy with the layout I walled/towered. Also it may hold too many towers, probably about a 50 tower mak base.
