Re: fixing the dc penalty
there is going back though. why not just remake the game from where the person dced, and if the person refuses - can join within 5 minutes - then you can dc penalty.

This sounds like it goes in the direction of your suggestion which was already partly declined due to technical reasons.eldryan wrote:there is going back though. why not just remake the game from where the person dced, and if the person refuses - can join within 5 minutes - then you can dc penalty.
@HealByColor Could you elaborate your example with achillesgr?

Re: fixing the dc penalty
I also prefere the elo punishment instead of unvouching for dc, although last season i had 12 dc penalties. the rest of new rules are ok, but this oneis too harsh imo.

Re: fixing the dc penalty
Well, if you want your ELO to be decreased so badly, then we can do the PES. But then you are gonna complain how it will manipulate your ELO because you can't balance it. However, then where's the punishment? A temporarily ELO decrement which will have no impact on you whatsoever?
That's not a punishment.

Re: fixing the dc penalty
The elo means almost nothing to most players that have played for multi seasons. For example achillesgr got lowest elo right now. He is the most valuable to play with in LIHL right now elo per skill lol. The elo punishment is annoying but we understand you should get something for dc not so much a ban.
@art)y maybe achillesgr could elaborate better then me.

Re: fixing the dc penalty
I don't know about you guys but I RARELY if EVER get the impression people actually kill their internet to avoid a horrible game or w/e their reasoning might be. I see DC as something that happens randomly and shouldn't punish the player as if he did it intentional like the other rulebreaks. DC'ing is unfortunate and in some cases fixable but in most cases you can't fix DC's and some people have bigger problems with it than others. DC penalty worked better than banning because the time wasted wasn't for "nothing" for all the other players and even though you knew the guy that dc'd got a penalty/ban for it you also know there is most likely nothing he can do about future dc's. My point being that DC penalty is more "fair" for everyone in the game.
Having a hard time wording my opinion correctly on this one but if you are uncertain of what I mean please do ask.

Re: fixing the dc penalty
So why do all complain about eld's disconnects if it can't be helped?
On the one side, you want some sort of punishment, however, on the other side, it mustn't be too hard because you know... who cares about disconnects. Why not just remove the rule if players can barely do something about it?
Edit: And I simply refuse to give players free ELO for something they dont deserve. The ELO is supposed to be your skill indicator and not to even out punishments by which multiple users are affected. You should really work out a new idea for once.

False statement.

You should be playing for fair, competitive, and above all a fun game. +3 +4 elo reward for your "time" is the big argument here?
Saying that players do not care about elo, yet want elo for their time instead of being satisfied with just having fun game is zzz

If this is indeed how most of the cases are, people should be able to be "understanding" and move on.

Re: fixing the dc penalty
90% of the players were happy with the old dc penalty system, so why not change it back.

The elo punishment worked for its purpose i guess, but I do not see why elo should be used as a means of punishment when elo should only be an approximate measurement of your skill.

Re: fixing the dc penalty
Because there's no reasonable logic behind applying ELO as punishment. Except you can bring up logical arguments (compensation for the wasted time is none of them) as to why we are supposed to alter players' ELO who haven't won/lost a game and thereby manipulating their stats - regardless of the impact.Diablo_ wrote:90% of the players were happy with the old dc penalty system, so why not change it back.

Re: fixing the dc penalty
You actually don't need any other argument than 90% of the community wants elo punishment - end of discussion right? I mean it's not a completely unlogical solution to bring back dc penalty.
As I already stated before nabo. - I find dc penalty just as much a punishment as a reason to not go completely insane if you play several games a day and people tend to lagg out.
What are you trying to accomplish by banning them? Sure, if you aren't using Gproxy it's understandable that you want them to, but those that use gproxy and still dc - what do you constructively want them to do? Punishment in form of banning should only be when you do something wrong, not when something unfortunate happen to you. DC penalty is not as harsh and that is especially the reason why I like elo penalty for DC'ing.
@nabo. Regarding your "fun games" statement nabo. - I think you should watch some LIHL games - people have SOME fun but mainly it's about winning and in general the gameplay.
Yes people should be "understanding" but it is much easier to cope with people wasting other peoples time if you get handed a few elo which in the end doesn't do much to the reciever but is a great deal to the giver of the elo.

Re: fixing the dc penalty
Then get rid of draw. The team will lose that has a player dc and players get elo. If you think it is free elo.
