Your idea of abusing game mechanics is merely someone following in a building style that's been in island defense for as long as I can remember compared to an actual abuse of mechanics aka game glitch exploits and such which are deemed ban-able by our Administrators. Do you see the difference now?
Yes, they're un-killable and kept at a minimum. Do you see people picking Makrura/Faerie/Nature every round? No, you don't. Let alone using wall walking ''abused advantage'' that they carry naturally. Who's being enlightening now?
There's a difference between truly abusive game mechanics and abusive game mechanics? Well hell I had no idea that abusing game mechanics was fine so long as it wasn't truly abusive. Really enlightening.
I completely agree there not unkillable. However your giving a builder extra escape abilities that it shouldn't have when the game is already balanced without them. This in turn causes imbalance. If we give this ability to every single builder, would the game be balanced? No. But because it's only a few we shouldn't care?

I'm interested in knowing how exactly wall walking would be removed. Would all builders have the human / undead building style?

The reason I can do my little chill on tree behind shelter as nat start of game is because I'm not scared of dying just wall walk away. Literally never die doing this.

I can understand how WW could be op, when the 20 out of 500-1000 players that can legit wall walk have been doing it for years. However from a titans point of view countering it is and always will be a joke. If you are focused on anything that has advanced escapes aka WW pre 5 mins, you're in the wrong for not farming. If you don't have a minion yet, go back to maiming builder.
Wc3 is not and never will be noob friendly. We are elitest, hence the 2 page argument on this thread.
If you think WW is a legit problem, practice more WW at any high skill level is not at all easy and takes a lot of finger dexterity to do it. This is not something some pub will pick up in a week and be great at.
Based off that time line that's basically the same for any skill set in any custom game that requires micro management.
To many times have I used chins to drop items ahead of a wall walker to prevent building. Which tbh required way more micro management then they were needing to wall walk. The point is the titan has tons of unorthodox ways to kill some one just as builders have unorthodox ways to evade the titan.
Jumping locations, blink basing, sheep tag, wall walk, fog abuse, worker block, pathing abuse.
Meanwhile titans are ank\item jumping into bases and nuking 3-5 times per half second without macro.
I'D is not balanced out side of being a noob at the game. And it shouldn't be. Because to get out of balance you need to aquire and practice the skill of said "abuse" which in return has an equally abusive counter from the enemy.

Remove game mechanics can be abused to win the game.
Ankh jumping, foss jumping, item jumping into bases.
Wall walking though? There were times where wall walking was the only reason I played Island Defense. This is also why my brother quit, because it's a lot harder to wall walk with delay, while i stayed behind.
Why not also take out tauren/satyr poking, and wall jumping while we're at it? Ridiculous. Instead of nerfing variety and entertainment, let's introduce more implementations and buffs, instead of just nerfs, which makes the game boring. Thanks. At least, with every major nerf, give the builder a major buff.
