I don't wanna make any advertisement for Steam, but it's a huge platform and a meeting point for gamers, although it doesn't support WC3 (or any Blizzard games i know of) . I created a Civ Wars group there and joined the ENT group too.
I also know alot of people who don't want to join a "social network" like Facebook (where you pay with your privacy). I still have ICQ installed but all my old contacts and friends are inactive...
So my suggestion: Make it possible to add your Steam ID at the forum profile?
