So, it's happened to me quite a few times before that I'd attempt a wardblock, and the Titan would start taking the wrong path to the target.
So for example, at mid, I TP back to mound, some builders run top-right late, so I have time to ward block. I use the ward (but the Titan still has to walk a bit to be in range) and the Titan starts walking to the right, to take the mid-right path out onto the map and then use the ward once he is behind the top-right walls.
Now, of course, one method to prevent this would be to get a feel of when you are in range to use the ward and then use it.
Anyone have advice on how they like wardblocking?

It'll auto-attack the nearest builder (unit with attack)
Normally I don't have a problem.
Exception is a hunter or summons attacking.

Basically, if you place a ward, your auto-attack switches to the nearest builder, which usually is the person you're trying to kill.

Re: Using Wards and Ward Blocking
Ah, I see.
My post was more focused on the pathing the Titan takes when you order a Ward to be placed, and how you counter Titan taking a long path around walls.
E.g.: You order a Ward to be placed at a choke point that a Builder wants to escape through, but since you are outside of Ward cast range, the Titan starts walking out of mid through one of the side exits, and attempts to place the Ward from behind the walls (I believe due to fog).
So I was thinking (and I need to test this) whether doing the following would be a good solution to not run into this problem (and thus fail the wardblock kill):
- Issue a move command somewhere near the wall where you'd be in range to wardblock.
- Shift queue ward placement (be careful because ALT+SHIFT+S I believe brings the save menu up - gotta double check, so make sure the Wards aren't in the Alt+S slot).
- Shift queue movement towards the ward to then block and kill the Builder.
Or:
- Issue a move command somewhere near the wall where you'd be in range to wardblock.
- Right before the builder passes the point of escape, place the ward. (If you were out of range, you'd have not been able to wardblock anyway)
- Intercept the builder, or do further wardblocks.
I think the biggest issue of wardblocks failing is fog.

Ah, what you're explaining is a case where the choke point is only blocked by one layer of walls. The shitty AI sometimes makes the titan go around. You can prevent this by just following the builder close enough to ward block range.
It's not about fog, since it'll also do the same thing if iseedeadpeople was enabled. Most times choke points are double walled though (like mid, bases or seeds), so I don't normally have this problem.
