LTD x10 2v2 vs 3v3 and boss level sending rules

Postby eggyolkio » Thu Sep 17, 2015 2:37 pm

i would argue that 3v3 makes for a longer and more interesting game. thoughts?

also, it has been noted that in x10 it's not a rule to send at boss levels 10, 20 and 30, however sending at those levels is almost always a guaranteed gg; more and more players are saving up early game lvls 1-10 just to ensure they win and gain stats, and are also intentionally uncommunicative about their intentions, making it hard to figure out whether or not they are sending on boss levels. this may result in the meta changing from long term strategy in building and income to a race for lvl 10 saving and sending and upgrading which is pretty much a gg either way. given the extended time taken to clear creeps in x10, imo this makes the game too short and rather pointless.

The reason the team format is 2v2 is due lag issues with the map.

I have seen many hold well on boss levels.

With that many income from extra wisp/lumber upgrades + more creep spawn, the game should be a lot shorter than normal LTD.

yeah ltd is a pretty laggy map, fair enough.

true, it's possible to hold, but given that the default mode is hpgmcb and how broken some of the units are, some players will
have a distinct advantage lvls 1-10 in lumber and income and therefore king upgrades and value, not to mention in later levels. also, i would again argue that the game is much more enjoyable when it lasts longer.

I've always sent on level 10 for the same reason; Competition. The fact stats were added did not change that one bit. I'd like to argue against both of these points because I've held full scale sends on 10 without any of the commonly known units (grizzlies, protons, hydras) so if that can be achieved, the x10 community can adapt in their building strategies. Having either of 3 units above and going 9/10 isn't ideal if being sent 10. :P

Having rounds go past 10 is hardly enjoyable. If someone rolls grizzlies then it's almost guaranteed that they hold all the way up to 20. You will spend your time and energy trying to knock the enemy team down and it just simply won't happen. The kings are too OP pre-17 to hold any likely possibility of dying (if maxed) unless sends are leaked also which again, is unlikely against experienced players due to the strong multitude of fortified units.

And as for 3v3 - My own personal opinion: It'll just lag more and ruin sending related strategies since I've already adapted to 2v2.

Basically, i send on 10 only if enemy send me on 1. I dont mind longer game, but its simple, if u want to hold 10, u dont push crazy income = sure leak. There are hundreds of tactics to use for different situations. The only problem is many people think that "no send 1,10,20,30" is actually a rule... when its not.. It`s made from weak players who dont know how to hold boss levels. I usually follow it cuz it won`t be funny to win every game on 10. As far for 3v3 x10 - i dont agree for 2 reasons:
1st: huge lag
2nd: if 2 players leak 1/2/3 and 1 person holding = he becomes literally immortal till 31 and can easy win a game 1v3.

@eggyolkio

Ive played few x10 games. Seen lvl 10 being held fine.

As avion and mrnoob state, it seems more of a question of skill than game being unstable or unfair.
