GLOBAL *AVAST* WARING

Postby ILOCOS_NORTE » Tue Sep 22, 2015 12:02 pm

Seems like the antivirus software AVAST (free) makes short work with lots of *.exe files !!!
If your AVAST detects war3.exe as malware, dont be starry-eyed like me and trust AVAST !!!

AVAST BECAME A TRUELY SHIT PROGRAMM, IT DELEATED ABOUT 10 *.EXE FILES.

(Depending on your AVAST settings, you can restore the exe.files from your container)

Yeah it wasn't the most fun thing trying to figure it out. What folder does Avast store contained files in? And is it accessible through explorer or do I have to navigate to it and restore the file via Avast?

First thing, you should never have your anti-virus configured to auto-delete anything; just put the files in the container.
Secondly, avast - among few others - has the reputation for aggressively flagging false positives.

With that said, dunno why this is a LIHL sticky.

avast is fine for those wanting a free antivirus.
check your heuristic settings and make sure its default.
its the setting for sensitivity basically.
if the heuristic is fine, drop an email to avast, there might be a recent war3.exe actual malware spread.
check it against
https://www.virustotal.com/

i double checked avast from a reliable source, false positive is below market average which is good.

i recommend buying norton internet security or kaspersky internet security.
during back to school or xmas its dirst cheap like $20 bucks for 3 users 1 year licence.
never dl an av program from the likes of piratebay

I second Marsh's option, though malwarebytes isn't bad for a free software
