I recently reported a player for massive verbal abuse and racism and he got banned for 1 year. Now I got this massage:

Should I take this serious in any way? Is connecting via Ent-connect more insecure or is the connection via Ent-connect protected?

You can report private messages and the forum moderators will take care of it.
Whether you use econnect (logging via forum) or battle.net does not really matter. Both are protected by e-mail recovery in case he hacks you. Though, via forum we may log IPs.
Regarding security itself, I would say econnect (lan) and bnet are both equally fine since they use the bnet client. However, he could bait you with third party links or own host bots to get your IP. - That wont be possible if you play on ENT though.
