I see many people (including myself) build tier 1 units behind dark green. I try to make it as close as possible, but sometimes, my build doesn't allow it. Last game, I was called out for 3-4 gnolls 0.5 spot illegal into dg.
So let's have a discussion.
The rule is there to prevent pulling, as far as I know. So why aren't melee units allowed further back into dark green as they won't pull any units?
Furthermore, tier 1 units are usually units u add to compensate or closely hold a certain level, but that you remove few minutes later into the game.
Best exemples are mines/gnolls.
Mines would be rather useless if built within legal area since they'd explode to only few units.
So since I don't see how the above exemple goes against the Dark Green rule which is meant to avoid pulling, I would like to propose;
1) Allow any melee units 1 (or more) spot further into dg
2) Allow any tier 1 melee units 1 spot further into dg
Thoughts?

Was 1.0 spot to far behind
Not that it matters tho.
I agree with u on this, i think it should be allowed to do further back.
BUT. then what should happen IF u pull ?

Re: Dark Green rule
I figured someone would have posted about this so I ss it in game.
This has been talked about many times just not too recently. The rules are very clear and people were getting temp banned for breaking it.
Build Provisions
• All players must solo build: build only on own lane and cannot build a tower that will attack and pull a creep from the opposite lane.
• You are only allowed to build 1 tower space into the dark green area, no further.
• If a player pulls creeps while not building at dark green area, whether to be punished or not will depend on a moderator's per case judgement. If pulling continuously happens due to a tower, it should be sold immediately.
• Do not build over 120 value of delay towers.
• Do not intentionally split towers to delay leaking on a level you have sent.
(this and the pic above is also in ent wiki when you click on the blue “1 tower space into the dark green area” clause) You are only allowed to build 1 tower space into the dark green area, no further, without being able to pull opposition towers
Build at your own risk. Any pulling due to dark green area building will be punished strictly.
Your zeus have a better chance to pull than the mele units do but people take this to the extreme such as when I think it was shrimp built a land mine half way between dark green area. People will always try to bend the rules, that is why there are mods. You are a mod and as such you should know the rules better then others although u are not a lihl mod. It does not matter if you build .5 spaces back or 4 spaces back it is breaking the rules.

-If you build 0.5-1 extra space into dg and dont pull, people will rarely report. But, this is at your own risk. Just build more front from the start.
-If you must build back LATE game due to limited space, no one is gonna call you on it.

These are the current dg building related rules.
I am pretty sure the first rule covers w.e u r concerned about whether its 2s, 3s, or 4s.
Here are reasons why we have dg rule that i can think of atm:
-To avoid pulling impacting the game (resources advantage, stalling)
-To correspond to solo building style
-To restrict stalling through delays
-To remove advantage against higher ms sends.
If players allow you to build 1 tower past dg area because you r solo and u have nothing to pull, they r only thinking about pulling, not the other reasons.
Just know tat if you are gaining an advantage...if reported, there will be penalties.

Thats the point, it doesn't pull because they go to the front line since they are melee.
A rule is still a rule tho
Not that i would report it, still banable tho

Re: Dark Green rule
@nabo.
Thanks for clarification.
Ya, basically, my point is that tier 1 units +1 into dg should not be bannable. I think yourself use mines with turrets far into DG?
And since gnolls/mines and probably all other t1 melee units do not contradict the above reasons why DG rule has been implemented, I think it'd be good to allow them officially.
@Jubadus
Read my post xd, this isn't about my case. Rules are rules, but rules are also subject to change, which is my point here.
I don't think tier 1 units far into DG should be prohibited.
@Play4EIo
Guys, read the topic title, this is not about my build. If you want to discuss my build, report me and we'll discuss that on my report >_>.. lol
I saw few people use tier one units, such as gnolls, ents, mines, illegally into dark green area. People such as Shrimp, me, nabo and others (I have bad memory). None of them were reported since it doesn't impact the game in the slightest.

Re: Dark Green rule
Rule is fine how it is. The purpose/intention of the rule is understood by most and the rule is there to avoid situations I listed above. If pulling was the only problem, Id reword it or consider what you are suggesting.
Yes, I have built land mines more than 1 space into dg, but they didnt pull and I always end up selling them after lvl 7 or after lvl 10, since they become pure dead value. For cases where people build zeus and pull, whether dg or not, if it keeps pulling, it is expected that you sell that unit. As mentioned on the rules, whether penalized or not will be based on moderator's review on the replay.
If none of the above points from my post I mentioned do not happen, you are very unlikely to be reported since there is 0 impact. But yes, if you go past dg 1 space, there was little to no impact, and are reported, you will be warned not to do so. The best would be to not build further than 1 space into the dg area. I usually tend to build a bit more front than average people due to this. It is better to restrict dg area, so people try to build more up front.
