Sure, there are other ways to help, but saying that this is second offense helps too.
How does it help? This show you ban history of the user? That's what I'am asking you, above, how aliases tell you he did twice the offense or it is his second time doing it?

A good exemple of error that can be made :

Code: Select all

nikia   uswest.battle.net   42   No
nikia   useast.battle.net   595   Yes

It's not the same person, cause the ip doesn't match. So having mutlile aliases doesn't gave them more info. :/

If they don't have the same IP...it shouldn't be showing up as an alias of the other unless at one time they had the same IP.

If you suspect it's someone you remember then you can recognize the username. Or just search the processed requests forum..

It shows both unless you specify the realm.

What does removing alias checker from public actually accomplish? I don't see a problem in checking an aka.

Yea, using @realm. But that's what I wanted to bring you. If the user don't user the @realm, it can bring to error.

Or just search the processed requests forum..
I don't wanna judge... I don't think people care much about it. They just want the user to get banned, when it come to BRQ. Before jumping on my word, read under :

If it is used like you said, and that user come and bring nicely the evidence. I don't mind. Acting like in the BRQ push me to the other side, wich is to take it off from normal user hand. It's like the kid, don't let them play to the xbox if they didn't made they Homework or bitch at the teacher. Same from user, if they show maturity, why hiding it? If they show that they're not enough mature to use the tool as it should be used to. Take it off.

I know why you want to keep the tool open. But have a look at how it turned. If you want to keep it. I'm not against or for it.

Like I say in my native laguage : Je suis mitigé.

Sure, they want to get user banned, but if that's true then they'll look for things like aliases to provide as much evidence as possible to get them banned.

I don't see how it turned badly. The many pages in the ban request wasn't a problem. Anyway, the way to deal with that would be to delete off-topic posts and warn the users, or lock the topic if it's pending a response from the violator.

Yes, it'll give you a form and you can check the notify user about the warning (it'll send auto PM to them I think).

But does it affect him in anyway on the forum after a certain amount of warn? Or it just send PM.

It just adds to warn history.

Thank you for the suggestion, but at this time, we feel that the tool is useful for the public to use.
