Highly offensive names alone are not a rule violation, however they can be an aggravating factor when coupled with in-game offensiveness. In any event, if you are requesting a ban, the proper place would be the ban request section. I would be happy to review it once you post.

The offensive name is only a factor when in-game language is similarly offensive. Thus, if he started throwing out bigoted words, I would consider a ban. Just raging a little bit would not be enough.

Regardless, no ban request was made. If you'd like to make a ban request, please do so in the proper place using the provided format.

i thought i recalled a forum called 'change of heart' where an admin stated they'd be banning by name for offensive names, I can't seem to find it now though...

Flaming I can handle, I just thought the name warranted some attention in an effor tto keep the community clean, however if the consensus is it's not offensive, i'll kcco!

Oh no, the name is very offensive. There is no doubt about that. However, the ENT rules are for extreme impoliteness or excessive racism. Thus, we tolerate a little bit of racism and impoliteness. What rises to the level of "extreme" or "excessive" is debatable, but the consensus is that a name alone will not be considered excessive.

However, as I said above, a racist or bigoted name, combined with some bigoted conduct in-game, can push the conduct in-game over the edge to "excessive" even if it would not be considered excessive were his player name "bluesky". Thus, a name is relevant insofar as we are judging the level of racism or bigotry in-game.

Without in-game bigotry, the name is irrelevant.

should we ban him anyways? or can i make a ban request against him then?
reason i ask is some of us are Game Moderators and some admin and as a gm we should try to keep games friendly no? so when we have a chance to do so we should take advantage right? since this game was brought up and looked at already.
also i just wanna say that i didnt watch the game or read any of the chat log.
so idk if thats enough evidence or not. imo no but if i were to make a ban request i would look at it first.
but i read all the comments and i figured this could work as an example aswell.

If you come across a player who needs banning then by all means - ban them with sufficient evidence. As with any ban request you should watch the replay and ensure your ban is not a mistake.

You can process the ban request yourself as long as it is not a hacking question like map hacking. That is really the only time you need another mod or admin to review before it can be processed.

Since you are a moderator, do not made a ban request for something like this unless you are going to process it. Otherwise you are just passing off the work to other mods.

agreed; i would most likely process it on my own unless there was a variable i didnt understand in which case i would clarify first before proceeding.

Yes, you can make a Ban Request for the game in question if the Original Poster did not deem it worth his time to do it himself. Like Paly said, this is to keep an electronic "paper trail" and you should treat it like any other Ban Request in that you attach the replay, note times, etc. and then ban and move to Processed.
