First i also wanted to say, that kingcontrol is (and should be) a point depending on skill and so on ... because AI would fuck up heavily + its cool to have an other way to see a difference between "good players" and "pros". But the suggestion of Akitos sounds awesome.
Akitos wrote:TL;DR: Give the players the opportunity to tell the king what to do and when to do it by using a voting system, instead of letting them do the control themself. This way they still have an influence on the king control and it remains to be an important part of the game, but it doesn't give a player the chance to singlehandedly screw up the game for everyone else. LTD is a team game and controling the king should be a team efford!

This way, the kingcontrol would be a teamdecision and therefor the competitive 4v4 charakter of the game would be underlined, since its a 4man decision vs a 4man decision instead of 1 player doing all by himself.

Akitos wrote:And the idea of having the highest elo player control the king (I think that's what you were suggesting) is also a terrible idea, because that doesn't automatically make him the best to control the king;

na mb just a box on que, where u can tick if u want to control the king or not.
Akitos wrote: nor does it ensure he's not a troll. We're all hoping for LTD2 to become a big ass game, don't we? And in a big ass game like LoL for example you'll rarely ever see the same people in solo/duo que again! Means: It will be EXTREMLY frustrating to lose a game that you should've won purely to one person having a suboptimal king control.

well u can alyways lose the game because of a troll, no matter if he controls the king or not. (sell towers/crap build/sending solo etc etc)
Akitos wrote:In LIHL for example you and your teammates would remember it if someone was bad with control and wouldn't let him control again. Same on the 1,2k+ bot. But that won't work in solo/duo que!!! And trust me, you don't want your whole game to be at grace of what 1 random person out of your team does for a fraction of the game length!!! That system is extremly outdated and doesn't belong in a standalone game as it is.

In every teamgame 1 single person can make ur team lose (LoL, CoD, WoW etc)
Akitos wrote:Well, I once suggested a mix between automatic and manual control. The control itself should be automatically, but you could give the player the ability to decide what should be focused first. For example:

27 Tuskarr (lvl 14), 13 Gargoyles, 2 Warlocks and 3 Frost Wolfs are being leaked to the king.

Ok but what if u send like 50 militia, 20bows, 10dinos, furb hermit commander, pudge, kraken, demon, infernal? or how to deal with dmged units? like prefering to kill demon (if its on <25%hp) instead of wl or sth like this?
also what to do if 2 players vote to kill demon first and 2 players want to kill kraken 1st?

well i like your idea but i think its impossible to vote for focus and the time abilities going to be used.

And how is that any different from taking control of the king ingame? As if that would stop people who're bad at control from doing it lol. In what dream world are you living?

milfhunter96 wrote:well u can alyways lose the game because of a troll, no matter if he controls the king or not. (sell towers/crap build/sending solo etc etc)

That's true but how is that a reason to give them more ways of teamkilling? :O Not to mention that garbage king control has a way bigger influence than a bad build and that stuff like selling all towers to teamkill won't be possible. Anyway, my main argument remains the same: LTD is a team based game and king control shouldn't be a single player efford!

milfhunter96 wrote:Ok but what if u send like 50 militia, 20bows, 10dinos, furb hermit commander, pudge, kraken, demon, infernal? or how to deal with dmged units? like prefering to kill demon (if its on <25%hp) instead of wl or sth like this?

I don't get your point, how does it matter what the opponents send? Wether it be 10 or 1000 militia doesn't make any difference. Regarding damaged units: THIS IS A STANDALONE GAME! Why are you so shortminded on this?! This is not WC3!!! It's absolutly no issue to make the king do smart control, just like a player would... There is bots in LoL who're able to play characters good enough to beat up noobs, why is it so hard for you to believe that a bot could do a very simple thing like focusing onehit targets...? "like prefering to kill demon (if its on <25%hp) instead of wl or sth like this?" team decision, the king can suggest it and the team decides wether or not he should, very simple. I don't see your problem tbh.
If there isn't a clear decision the king will simply do the one that makes the most sense to him (as in, compares how close the different choices are to the recommended order and then perform the one closest to this).

milfhunter96 wrote:well i like your idea but i think its impossible to vote for focus and the time abilities going to be used.

It's actually very possible and not as complex as you point it out to be. Having the King use the spells properly is probably the easiest thing to do. For example: why would an AI not be capable of hitting every creep once and lasthitting it with wave? Players can do this and you can bet your ass that an AI can do it even better. As for intentional delay strategies, such as waving to where no creeps are to cancel autoattack animation etc: why would we want to transition such game mechanic abuses into a standalone game? You can tell your king to either use abilities or not. If you tell him to use them he will use them to their maximum efficiency. So where exactly do you have a problem with that system?

Random thought bubble:

Make 4 smaller and weaker kings defend a wall (or building/treasure). Skills upgrade over time like it is now, weapon damage upgradable by team weapon upgrades (kings upgrade together simultaniously), wall got regen/health upgrades.

Each player controls individually, allowing you to use real team effort by effectively focusing creeps together.

First of all, sorry for the delayed response, guys! I was traveling all week and shot the Kickstarter video with Lisk.

Jamo wrote:@Akitos: Sounds awesome to me, I love it! :)

So, what actually are the current thoughts about the King anyhow, @Jules?

We're evaluating exactly what to do with the King - and the exact call will be made later down the road. We'll try something and listen to your feedback. This is HUGELY important. We need guys like you in the closed beta to make sure the game is the best it can be. :)

@Akitos is right that this is not going to be a small community where a moderator can review every report or ban on a forum. We'll be developing real matchmaking and systems that detect griefers or people who intentionally leave or AFK.

MarshMallows wrote:Can u clear up when we cah pre order and also when we can play the game? @jules

First of all - good news: the game is free-to-play, so there's no need to pre-order it. :)

If you want to get a closed beta key, there is a Kickstarter tier that gives you one, so as soon as the Kickstarter goes live on March 1st, you can secure on then. If not, people will have to wait until the closed beta ends!

magicpotatoes wrote:Can't wait to see this new game !! :D

NEITHER CAN WE. We actually just want to play a new and improved Legion TD 2 - that's our motivation for making the game haha.

okay cool.

I read up on the rewards tiers there. I think you should target the 15-50 dollar range a lot harder as it is way more likely for people to pay that amount. I'd have one for 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 with increasing rewards like in game name reservations or skin unlocks. Just something to think about.

A similar method is also used in "Weltbaumverteidigung", whereas the players also control 1 unique unit (similar to the LTD king) in a mode - thus you dont have to rely on a player alone who controls the king, which can also backfires in case the player decide to trolls or is "bad" compared to the other opposite king controller.

What i like to add is to that you should try to lower the random factors in the game, for example that random sends receivement (like 4 demons on a player at 15, which is quite rare but still possible), random king spells or maybe disable them completely or add new ones etc. - as we all know when you got immolation its usually a free-send on 7, whereas wave is only good for few levels only compared to immolation/stomp.

Regarding crossing i would disable it completely (where 1 player builds nearly 90% of the time and the other one is watching the game more or less), although building together is a different case again

Though, i like the 5000 Dollar perk at the kickstarter-site (because of the unique fighter you can build, and not the custom builder), but thats way too much for me haha

Another question though - will there be a Mac-version or only Windows at start?

Another good idea in my opinion would be in case of a disconnect from a player i would suggest that another player from his/her team (which can be decided by a poll or something similar) should take over the control of the disconnected player (as you all know how hard it is to play 3 vs 4 etc) and also disable the delay of sending demons/kraken/behemouth at level 15 (will be hard to send for 2 players in that case) - an idea would be to make them possible to send at the building-time for level 15, for example.

Regarding selling towers as teamkill - there are many possibilites to lower/disable it completely for example to limit the selling of towers or cant sell towers if the player is below a certain value, in case the player is below a certain value he/she can get kicked by a poll, or to implent an ingame-feature whereas the player can get kicked in case of trolling (can be abused if the player is a starter though which isnot ideal - which can be solved with adding certain bots with certain modes, for example disabling this function at unranked matches) and another player takes over as i mentioned above etc.
