Autoban off when a user loses conection in the first 5 minutes in DOTA

Postby Hairy » Wed Apr 06, 2016 6:24 pm

Hi.

This would be a great rule. I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented yet.

What is your opinion on this ?

Uh, so say someone doesn't like their randoms, or doesn't like their teams picks, or realizes they are playing against a stack and they decide to just plug pull they don't get banned?

If they get first blooded going for bounty rune and PP don't get banned?

If they want mid but another team mate goes mid and they PP they don't get banned?

Probably the worst suggestion I've seen... no offense, but clearly you didn't think it through

i believe he means that just the first leaver gets a ban since the game is already ruined

Ok, I'll try to explain this as good as possible.

Autoban would automatically turn itself off only AFTER a player leaves in the first 5 minutes of the game. The first player that leaves will get ban obviously.

But the team that has to play a 4v5 game from the first minutes of the game I think it's fair that autoban should be off after 1 teammate leaves. Cause no one wants to play a 4v5 game from start. Might as well start 4v5 from the lobby, almost the same thing.

This is a rule inspired from another bot and I think it's a very good one if you ask me.

@hairy sorry I misunderstood. So essentially you are supporting making it ok for any person on a team of 4 versus 5 (if the first person left/dc'd in the first 5 mins) to leave the game without autoban penalty. Hmm, I can see some possible abuse here mostly relating to friends and dodgers, but I'm not AS against this suggestion considering that in the current DOTA version 4v5 games are always screwed up.

Would the people on the team of 4 versus the 5 be able to leave at any point without penalty? Or would they also have to leave within a certain time frame? What about auto drawing the game?

It really depends on hero picks, skill level on both teams, and teamwork. It's certainly better to have bonus gold, than having a player feed the other team. There is more than one way of looking at this.

I think the current rules work fine.

Reducing the number of votes (maybe to 5 or 6) to draw is one of the possible solutions. What do u guys think?

What is the current number of votes needed to draw?

Although I personally think as many players need to agree to it as possible. I still don't agree that only 4 out of 5 need to FF for it to take effect. Before the rule was implemented, there were rare occasions where I still won despite the rest of my team ff and sit fountain much of the time.

Both of ur last 2 posts are somewhat off topic, especially this one lol

focus on the solution to "leaver in first 5 min" and you may very well post another suggestion on "ff" rule.

My previous posts were not a solution, but not off topic. Just a way of saying that the way things are now is just fine, and nothing should be done about it.

I still say nothing should be done, but I think dota 2 does it like this:

If one player drops without picking a hero
Or drops within the first five minutes and there is no first blood

autodraw (and I don't think the leaver is penalized in dota 2)

Dont mix DotA 2 into this, please. Their systems offer the technical capabilities for such scenarios which we (afaik) lack due to the bot/client situation.

Anyway, we will not promote leaving games by disabling autoban for the xth leaver.

reducing 4v5 games would reduce games played in general, bet increase in leaver percentages would occur. I dont like this idea, some 4v5 games are fine and definitely playable.

Bleh 4vs5 games are playable (and most of the times i've encountered these situations, usually people ask for draw or continue), and as aRt)Y stated, we won't encourage people to leave games by disabling autoban, considering the mentioned situation: Atm the rules state "Leaving when there is less than four players on either team." is allowed, so that is fine

First 5 minutes in DotA are a lot of time, which can lead to people abusing it, as mentioned before by Child and others

Honestly I dont see the necessity/Pros of this suggestion at all

I think what op is asking is something similar to that of the LTD system, where 2 leavers before level 1 would result in a draw. However, if this will get implemented, the time of effect must be carefully interpreted

If there are two leavers before the game timer officially starts in DotA, I'm pretty sure the game automatically draws.
